EastEnders will feature pregnancy storylines for two characters next week: Penny Branning and Nicola Mitchell will both experience unexpected developments.
Penny is shocked to discover the timeline doesn’t match up with Vinny Panesar being the father of her child – it seems Harry Mitchell is much more likely. When Nic figures this out, she pressures Penny to take a DNA test to confirm.
Nicola is clearly very stressed, and this leads to her going into labor early and giving birth prematurely.
Jasmine Fisher’s (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness) family is deeply affected by her ongoing trial, and Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) finds herself caught in a rekindled romantic dilemma.
Here’s everything that’s happening in EastEnders between Monday, 30th March and Thursday, 2nd April.
6 EastEnders spoilers for next week
1. Penny Branning discovers the real father of her unborn baby

My heart was soaring for Penny and Vinny – they were finally going for their first baby scan! It was such a special moment, but it got a little dampened when Vinny had to take a call during the appointment. It was about a potential investor for Penny’s shop, and honestly, you could just see the worry creeping into his face. It was like the joy of the scan was briefly overshadowed by business concerns, and it felt a little sad to witness.
Eager to impress, he accepts a meeting with a shadowy investor, telling Penny he’ll catch up with her later. He ignores Priya Nandra-Hart’s (Sophie Khan Levy) clear advice to avoid trouble and stay away from dangerous individuals.
Penny was shocked to discover during a scan that she was further along in her pregnancy than she thought. Instead of telling Vinny, she shared the news with Lauren Beale and Oscar Branning. She’s worried because the new timeline raises the possibility that Harry might be the father!

At first, Penny tries to deny it and hopes the test results are a mistake, but she finally confesses to having slept with him the day he went to rehab. This creates further conflict with Suki Panesar-Unwin, as they argue about Vinny’s work trying to get money for the Turpin Road shop. Nicola has to intervene and separate them.
Someone told Nicola that Harry had a relationship with Penny last year. Now she suspects something is going on, and she’s given Harry a tough choice: either prove he’s not the father with a DNA test, or she’ll reveal everything to Vinny and Harry.
The following day, after Nicola firmly repeated her request, a troubled Penny sought guidance from Lauren and Oscar before ultimately addressing Nicola directly.
2. Nicola Mitchell goes into premature labour

George is feeling anxious as the opening of his new restaurant, Knight Fusion, gets closer. However, his attention changes when Harry realizes Nicola seems preoccupied. Nicola privately tells Harry she’s worried because she hasn’t felt the baby move.
I was so worried about her, but even though she didn’t want to make a fuss, George and Gina Knight absolutely insisted on driving her to the hospital. Thankfully, the doctors checked everything out and confirmed the baby was perfectly healthy, which was such a relief!
The stress finally gets to Nicola – after a fierce argument with Penny, she’s overcome with pain. Despite Harry urging her to see a doctor, she goes home to rest, but her condition doesn’t improve, and she knows something is seriously wrong.
As guests began arriving at Knight Fusion, George became worried when Nicola didn’t appear. He hurried home and found her on the floor, suffering in pain.

I was really on the edge of my seat watching Nicola at the hospital. She was understandably terrified about potentially going into labor too early, and things quickly escalated. Suddenly, she was being prepped for an emergency C-section, and thankfully, she delivered a beautiful baby girl. It was intense, but ultimately a relief to see everything work out.
It breaks my heart to share that Nicola’s struggles aren’t over yet. She’s battling flu symptoms and bleeding, which means she has to isolate, and it’s just awful that she can’t be with her precious newborn right now. I was so moved by the image of George meeting his daughter for the very first time – looking at her through the glass of the NICU incubator. It was a beautiful, yet heartbreaking, moment.
Executive producer Ben Wadey explained that the storyline focuses on Nicola and George as they deal with the difficulties of having a premature baby and the effect it has on their families.
Annelies Hopkins from Bliss, the UK’s leading charity for premature and sick babies and their families, said they were pleased to have advised on a recent EastEnders storyline. The storyline realistically portrays the difficult and upsetting experience of having a baby in neonatal care.
3. Jasmine Fisher’s trial causes more upset

As Jasmine’s court date approaches, those closest to her are having a hard time. Her brother, Josh, starts distancing himself from their mother, Zoe, and finds solace in hanging out with Patrick instead.
When Child Protective Services asks Patrick to provide a video statement for Jasmine’s trial, the Truemans start to wonder if it’s asking too much of him.

Things get worse when Kim says something hurtful about Jasmine, deeply upsetting Josh. This makes him start thinking about reaching out to his twin sister after a long time.
What will Patrick and Josh do?
4. There’s sexual tension between Vicki Fowler and Zack Hudson

Mark notices a tense exchange between Vicki and Zack Hudson, leaving him to wonder if there’s still unresolved tension between them.
Okay, so Zack initially refuses Vicki’s generous offer of a place to live – money’s tight, and he’s being realistic. But honestly, watching him say goodbye to his son, Barney Mitchell, played brilliantly by Lewis Bridgeman, really hit me. You could see him questioning everything. It’s a powerfully sad scene, and it definitely sets the stage for him realizing he’s truly on his own now, and maybe, just maybe, he made the wrong call. It’s a turning point, and I’m eager to see where it leads.
Ross notices a strained conversation between them, and while she’s told it’s about financial issues, the obvious connection between her and Zack hints at something deeper going on.
Will Ross realise that Zack was the man she had the one-night stand with?
5. Elaine Peacock clashes with Ian Beale – again!

Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) is disappointed when a mistake with the event location throws her political campaign into disarray. Feeling like she’s blown her opportunity to succeed, she finds support from her former husband, George.
He steps in with a generous offer to host her event at Knight Fusion, free of charge.
I couldn’t help but notice Elaine was quick to show off her new deal, and she really made sure Ian Beale saw it! It didn’t take long for them to start arguing – honestly, it feels like they’re always at each other’s throats!
Will they ever be able to put their issues to one side?
6. Billy Mitchell confronts Bea Pollard
Bea Pollard (played by Ronni Ancona) has been staying with the Mitchells for far too long, and Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) still isn’t sure it’s a good situation for his family.
Trying to talk to her about her spending didn’t go well at all. It ended badly, leaving him embarrassed and still unsure about their relationship.
