Mel Schilling passed away at the age of 54 after a courageous fight with colon cancer, her family announced.
Mel Schilling is a well-known relationship expert who appeared on the UK and Australian versions of Married at First Sight. She recently paused her television work after learning her cancer had spread.
Gareth Brisbane, Schilling’s husband, shared a sad message on social media saying she died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones.
I’ll never forget being with her near the very end. Everyone thought she’d lost her voice to the cancer, but she pulled me close and whispered something meant for both Maddie and me. It’s a message that will stay with me forever, and it gives me strength even now.
She used the very last of her energy, and that simple act captured everything about our sweet Melsie. Even while struggling, she was only thinking of Maddie and me.

Earlier this month, Schilling shared that she’s taking a break from Married at First Sight UK because her cancer has spread to the left side of her brain.
She shared that after finishing radiation treatment, her doctors told her there were no more options available.
Hearing that news completely shifted my perspective. That’s where I find myself now: my strength is diminishing rapidly, but I’m still present, still putting up a fight, and deeply loved by amazing people.
Everyday things are now really challenging, and I’m needing a lot of help from my wonderful family. I don’t know how much time I have left, but I’m determined to keep fighting for as long as I can, and I’m so grateful to be surrounded by the love and support of my family and friends.

People are sharing heartfelt messages following the star’s passing, and Channel 4 expressed their deep sadness at the news.
We are proud to showcase Mel’s work, which played a key role in the huge popularity of Married at First Sight in both the UK and Australia, according to a recent statement.
The tribute went on to say that Mel truly embodied her values – she strongly supported other women, believed in healthy relationships, and worked to bring people together through love. They also wanted to remember her as a wonderful person, beyond her accomplishments.
To those who worked with her at Channel 4, Mel was more than just a coworker – she was a friend. She was known for her cheerful spirit, kindness, and ability to brighten up any space with her humor and positive attitude.
