Miley Cyrus Details Touring With Ex Nick Jonas for Hannah Montana Tour

Miley Cyrus got the best of both worlds on her Hannah Montana tour.

The former Disney star recently shared some behind-the-scenes stories about her old TV show, including how she convinced her then-boyfriend, Nick Jonas, and the Jonas Brothers to participate in the show’s 2007 concert tour.

Miley revealed on the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special that she toured with the Jonas Brothers because she was dating Nick Jonas from 2006 to 2008 and didn’t want to be apart from him.

Miley’s relationship with Nick helped promote his band, which also included his brothers Joe and Kevin Jonas.

Miley remembered once telling her team she’d only go on tour if her boyfriend could join her. They agreed, letting him open for her shows, which she described as a quick and easy decision.

The Jonas Brothers kicked off the show and later performed their song “We Got the Party” with Miley, who appeared both as herself and a different persona during the performance.

The 33-year-old, who got engaged to Maxx Morando last year, explained that she always felt things were better when her brother, Nick, was around. She simply said, ‘It’s just more fun when Nick is there.’

I’ll never forget when Miley and Nick were a thing! Even though she’s had some very public relationships since – like with Liam Hemsworth and Patrick Schwarzenegger, and she even got engaged to Maxx – she recently said how special Nick was to her. She was on a podcast in June 2025 and jokingly said ‘Niley forever,’ and honestly, it felt so true! It’s sweet to remember, especially knowing Nick now has a daughter, Malti, with Priyanka Chopra.

Miley revealed she had feelings for Nick, but acknowledged he was married with kids. She stated they were both moving forward and that everything was okay.

For his part, Nick has admitted that his relationship with Miley taught him what love was like.

In the 2019 Jonas Brothers documentary, Chasing Happiness, Nick shared that he began writing songs about love once he’d actually experienced it himself.

Nick’s brother, Kevin, playfully described Nick’s reaction to meeting Miley, saying, “I think his head just exploded!”

Miley Cyrus playfully revealed that when she got the role of Hannah Montana and moved to pursue her career, she ended things with a childhood crush named Jeff and instead started dating her co-star, Mitchel Musso, who played Oliver on the show.

Miley recently shared on Disney+ that she had a crush on her former co-star, Mitchel Musso. She jokingly explained that when she realized she liked him, she moved on from another boy named Jeff, feeling completely happy and ready for a relationship with Mitchel.

Miley joked, “Get the tea kettle for that scene!” She then explained how Taylor Swift ended up in the Hannah Montana movie. It was early in Taylor’s career, and the filmmakers needed someone who could realistically perform in a barn setting – and they both had experience doing just that.

Miley also pointed out that Taylor wrote the final song, “You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home,” for the 2009 movie, and called it a timeless hit. She said Taylor really nailed it with that song.

The singer shared with Alex Cooper that she secretly dated Dylan Sprouse, admitting she thought he was really cute and had a crush on him.

Miley confirmed that the Suite Life star—who has a twin brother, Cole Sprouse—was her boyfriend. She explained that his father often took them both out for sushi, and she appreciated getting to spend time with both of them. She jokingly said it was a ‘two-for-one’ deal: ‘Bring the brother, hello!’

Though she didn’t mention her fiancé by name, Miley alluded to her love for Maxx Morando.

I feel incredibly lucky to have so much love from my family, and now I’ve found a new kind of love that feels like a really important step in my life. It’s about building a future with someone, and it’s something everyone dreams of – feeling truly loved, which I’ve experienced in many ways.

Miley asked Selena Gomez, who guest-starred as Mikayla in three episodes of Hannah Montana, about her memories of filming. Miley admitted that a lot of it felt like a blur.

Selena recalled wearing the strange, blue makeup as part of an alien costume. She admitted feeling self-conscious about it at the time, explaining that as a teenager, she just wanted to feel pretty.

Miley readily agreed, adding that despite playing enemies on screen, they could now repair their relationship.

I always knew there was a connection between Selena and the Jonas Brothers! Apparently, she dated Nick Jonas for a while – from 2006 to 2007 – and that’s actually why they ended up opening for her shows. It’s so cute to think about now!

You know, when I toured with the Jonas Brothers, it was actually all about love! Nick and I were dating, and honestly, I didn’t want to be apart from him. So I basically said, ‘If I’m going to tour, Nick needs to come along!’ They were super sweet about it and said, ‘Great, he can open for you!’ It was a fun time, and it all worked out perfectly.

She added, “I was always just like, ‘Well, it’ll be more fun if Nick is there.'”

Miley and her father shared a heartwarming reunion on the set of Hannah Montana. Miley joked that he’d gotten a new haircut, thanks to her!

She told Alex she was thrilled he was joining them, explaining that their connection meant a lot to the show’s viewers. She believes that when she and her father are on good terms, it makes people happy, and it’s just a positive feeling when the Cyrus family is getting along.

Emily Osment—who played Miley Stewart’s BFF Lilly—had a special dynamic with Miley onset.

I felt like Emily was a true partner, especially since I was still learning the ropes,” she explained. “We knew we could always rely on each other – whether it was hitting our cues, working through scenes, or practicing our lines.

She particularly remembers going to Panda Express with Miley, although Miley feels she didn’t make a very good impression that day.

That was the best thing I ever did, honestly. I used to get white rice at Panda Express and pour Diet Coke over it instead of soy sauce – it was a weird habit! I guess that explains why Emily was so surprised to meet me; she probably thought, ‘Who is this person?’

As Miley quipped, “I am from the south in a way that it’s really hard to describe.”

One of the best parts of being named a Disney Legend is the parking perk – my parking spot actually says ‘Disney Legend’ on it, which is incredibly helpful!

Miley playfully explained that she photographs her parking space and sends the picture to her friends as a lighthearted reminder of her success. She jokes that if anyone tries to give her advice, she can simply point to the photo and say, ‘Disney Legend Parking!’

When directly asked if her character should end up with Jake (Cody Linley) or Jesse (Drew Roy), Miley initially said she couldn’t choose, explaining they were both ‘out there’ pursuing their own lives. However, she then quietly admitted she preferred Jake.

She playfully pointed out that while one person consistently praises her in the media, she hasn’t received any public acknowledgement from Jesse. “He’s always saying really nice things, and I notice,” she said with a smile. “But from Jesse? Nothing at all!”

The Grammy-winning artist jokingly confessed she enjoys the idea of a romantic storyline with the character Jake Ryan for her role.
