5 Spider-Heroes Who Will Never Appear in the MCU

The first trailer for the next Spider-Man movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, titled Brand New Day, is out now! It shows Spider-Man starting a new chapter, navigating things on his own, and looks like a thrilling adventure for fans. While the movie version of Spider-Man is currently solo, the comic books feature a large team of Spider-allies known as the Spider-Family or the Order of the Web. This group has grown significantly over time, including popular heroes like Miles Morales and longtime favorites like Spider-Woman.

It’s unrealistic to expect every member of Spider-Man’s extended circle of allies to appear in a movie. With so many Spider-People out there, the focus will likely be on those who fit best into the current Marvel Cinematic Universe. While characters like Miles Morales and Silk have a good chance of making an appearance, others are less likely. Let’s explore five Spider-heroes who probably won’t be joining the MCU’s Spider-Man anytime soon. While every hero deserves a moment in the spotlight, these five seem unlikely to get one.

5) Araña

Okay, so Anya Corazón, who used to be Spider-Girl, now goes by Araña, is a really cool character. I’ve been following her for ages! But honestly, I don’t see her making it into the MCU as she is. Her backstory is pretty wild – she got her powers from a tattoo given to her by this ancient group called the Spider Society, basically medieval spider-gods protecting the world from supernatural stuff. It’s a fantastic origin, but the MCU seems to really shy away from magic and leans into science. If they do bring her in, I’m betting they’ll completely rework her powers and history, and she won’t be the same character I know and love. It’s a shame, but that’s just how things seem to go with adaptations.

4) Kaine

Kaine is considered the second-best clone of Spider-Man, but he’s flawed and struggles with mental instability, often leading to sudden, violent episodes. Though he shares a strong connection with Peter Parker as a brother, Ben Reilly is more likely to appear in a movie. Ben is more popular with fans and his story is simpler to explain. While the complex “Clone Saga” can be streamlined for film, Kaine doesn’t offer a unique enough story compared to Ben, and Marvel likely wouldn’t introduce two clones at once.

3) Ghost-Spider

Gwen Stacy is a significant character in Spider-Man’s history, but there are a couple of challenges to bringing her into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. First, she’s best known as Peter Parker’s girlfriend, and the films seem to be working towards reuniting Peter with Mary Jane Watson. Adding Gwen to the mix could create complications. Even if she does appear, it’s unlikely we’d see the version with superpowers. The MCU’s attempts with the multiverse haven’t been entirely successful so far, and introducing a different version of Gwen – one they haven’t properly established in this universe – could be risky. Plus, she’s already a lead character in the Spider-Verse movies, and Marvel might worry about confusing viewers by having her appear in multiple places.

2) Mayday Parker

Mayday is the daughter Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson would have had, but she was erased from existence when they made a deal to save Aunt May. While it’s possible she could reappear – perhaps even traveling from the future to reunite her parents – it doesn’t seem very likely. Mayday doesn’t appear often in the comics to begin with. Although a movie appearance isn’t impossible, it would require a lot of complicated explanations, and this Spider-Man series seems to be focusing on smaller, more personal stories, so I doubt we’ll see her in the near future.

1) Spider-Boy

Even though I’m a fan of Bailey Briggs, it’s unlikely he’ll become Spider-Man’s sidekick in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Peter Parker’s story began with him learning from Iron Man, and then becoming independent. Having him mentor someone else could nicely complete that story, but if anyone becomes his student, it will almost certainly be Miles Morales. Miles is a popular character with a large and devoted following, and most fans already see him as the future of Spider-Man. Unfortunately, Bailey doesn’t have the same level of recognition, and while that’s disappointing, it’s hard to disagree with the likely outcome.
