We’re fascinated by real war stories that reveal hidden acts of courage and previously unknown military events. The trailer for ‘Pressure‘ tells one of these stories – a surprising tale of how the success of D-Day may have rested on the judgment of a single weather forecaster.
The three days before D-Day were filled with final preparations, but one crucial factor remained uncertain: the British weather. James Stagg, Britain’s top weather forecaster, faced immense pressure to deliver an accurate prediction, putting him at odds with Allied commanders. A bad forecast could doom the massive invasion, while any postponement risked alerting German forces. Haunted by a disastrous practice run, Supreme Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower, with only his aide Captain Kay Summersby as a confidante, held the fate of the war – and millions of lives – in his hands as the deadline approached.
The film features a stellar cast including Andrew Scott (known for All of Us Strangers and Fleabag), Academy Award winner Brendan Fraser (The Whale, The Mummy), and Academy Award nominee Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin). Rounding out the cast are Golden Globe and Emmy winner Damian Lewis (Billions, Homeland) as Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery, and Chris Messina (Air) portraying Irving P. Krick, Dwight D. Eisenhower’s key meteorologist during the war.
The film is being released at the start of awards season, and it has the potential to be an award winner itself.
PRESSURE will be released in cinemas nationwide from 9th September 2026
