I’m so excited! NIS America just announced they’re bringing Village in the Shade – it’s called Hono Gurashi no Niwa in Japan – to the West this fall! It’s a rural life sim and will be available on PlayStation 5, the new Switch 2, regular Switch, and PC through Steam. I’ve been waiting for this one!
In Japan, Village in the Shade is due out for all platforms on July 30.
You can now pre-order the limited edition for $89.99 at the NIS America Online Store. This special package includes the game itself (delivered as a game key for Nintendo Switch 2), a collector’s box, an art book, the original soundtrack on DigiPak, an acrylic stand, five enamel pins, and a sticker sheet.
Here is an overview of the game, via NIS America:
About
Kagatsu is a charming Japanese mountain village with a mysterious side. In this new farming game, beautifully brought to life with hand-painted art, you can grow crops, build up your farm, and get to know the interesting people who live there.
Unwind by the stream, enjoy the cherry blossoms with friends, or simply wander around town. There are plenty of ways to relax and feel comfortable here.
Just remember these few simple rules: stay away from strangers, don’t wander outside the village, and be sure to stay indoors after dark.
Key Features
- Unsettle Down – Make your new home feel like home! Buy furniture in town to decorate your house, then craft fences and other items with the resources you’ve gathered around your farm.
- Festivals and Fun – Experience traditional Japanese festivals and activities, like the summer festival and cherry-blossom viewing. Get closer to your neighbors as you enjoy laid-back living.
- Secrets Aren’t Meant to be Shared – Discover the truth about Kagatsu at your own risk, or follow the rules and keep from seeing a part of the village you don’t want to.
