Twilight icon Robert Pattinson calls out classic love triangle: “No one’s Team Jacob”

I always loved the ‘Twilight’ saga, but honestly, that love triangle always felt a bit much! It’s so interesting to hear Robert Pattinson himself acknowledge it and finally share his thoughts – it feels like he’s settling a debate fans like me have been having for years! It’s good to get his perspective and finally have a bit of closure on that whole thing.

The first “Twilight” book came out in 2005, and the movie followed in 2008. Ever since, fans have constantly debated one thing: who is the better romantic interest for Bella – Edward or Jacob?

The movies launched the careers of Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, who starred as Edward and Jacob. These two attractive actors – one a vampire, the other a werewolf – became rivals, both in the films and in the media, as they competed for the affection of Kristen Stewart’s character, Bella Swan.

While promoting his new movie, ‘The Drama,’ alongside Zendaya, Pattinson has at last answered a long-standing question.

While in Paris, Zendaya was asked by a Canal+ reporter who she supported in the ‘Twilight’ saga, and she enthusiastically replied, “I’m ‘team Edward,’ all day!”

Sitting beside Pattinson, who looked incredibly pleased with himself, she found it difficult to respond.

The conversation then shifted to Robert Pattinson, who responded with a laugh, saying, “There aren’t any ‘Team Jacob’ fans left!”

“That was just a marketing thing,” he added.

The reporter, a clear fan of the movies, confessed she’d been on ‘Team Jacob’ before quickly backtracking. Pattinson jokingly reacted with an eye roll and called her ‘crazy’.

For almost 15 years since the final Twilight movie came out, Robert Pattinson hasn’t been shy about sharing his negative feelings towards his character, Edward. He once described Edward as a “weirdo” and even joked in a 2009 OK! Magazine interview that if Edward were a real person, he’d likely be a dangerous individual, perhaps even a murderer.

Robert Pattinson’s character captured Bella’s heart in the movies, and Pattinson himself found romance with his co-star, Kristen Stewart. They dated on and off for four years, from 2009 to 2013.

The actor recently married British singer and actress Suki Waterhouse, and they had a daughter together in 2024.

The new drama film comes out in UK cinemas on Friday, April 3rd. Plus, you can currently watch all five Twilight movies on Prime Video.
