Owlcat Games has revealed that The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, an action RPG played from a third-person perspective, will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC in spring 2027. It will be available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG.
Here is an overview of the game, via Owlcat Games:
About
Okay, so I’m playing The Expanse: Osiris Reborn and it’s a third-person action RPG set in that universe – you know, the one with the whole Mars/Earth/Belt thing going on. I’m not some grand hero, though. I’m just a regular merc, trying to survive and keep my crew and ship from falling apart. The cool part is, the choices I make actually matter and change how the story goes!
The Universe Never Told Us if We Did Right or Wrong
In the 25th century, humans have spread throughout space, but life is still a struggle. In the story-driven sci-fi Action RPG, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, you are a mercenary for Pinkwater Security. Your short leave on the asteroid Eros quickly turns dangerous when you become trapped in a lockdown and pulled into a massive conspiracy. To survive, you’ll need to adapt and take control of the most powerful ship in the solar system.
Design a captain – whether from Earth, Mars, or the Belt – and command a team of talented experts. You’ll navigate dangerous situations, deal with political challenges, and confront a ruthless enemy determined to destroy you. The future of a solar system built on shaky agreements rests on your choices.
Trust Isn’t Given—It’s Earned
Your crewmates aren’t just tools to help you complete your goals—they’re individuals with their own pasts and motivations. Each one is seeking something different, whether it’s a chance to make amends or to keep secrets hidden. As you journey together, your bonds with them will either grow stronger or fall apart, based on your decisions and how you lead. The ship itself will become your home, but you’ll have to earn the trust of those around you—it won’t be freely given.
Dynamic Third-Person Combat
Experience intense third-person combat where using cover and special abilities are key. You’ll lead a team – two companions fighting alongside you and others providing support from afar by hacking systems or distracting enemies. You’ll need to give commands on the fly and react quickly to overcome the many dangers you’ll face.
The Fractured World of The Expanse
As a huge fan of this world, I’m so excited to explore places like Ganymede, Ceres, Mars, and Luna! It’s not just about seeing the sights though – you really feel the history and tension in these broken-down cities and political hubs. What’s amazing is getting to talk to the people who live there, digging up secrets, and actually having a say in how things unfold. Each planet and asteroid feels totally unique – some are visibly crumbling, while others are masking their problems. And honestly, it’s a little unsettling how connected everything feels – you might just run into someone you recognize, which really drives home how small this whole system is.
