Teyon and Nacon recently revealed a new game called Hunter: The Reckoning – Deathwish during the Xbox Partner Showcase. It’s based on the Hunter: The Reckoning part of the popular World of Darkness tabletop role-playing game. A trailer has been released, and the game is scheduled to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S in Summer 2027.
The trailer doesn’t show much of the actual gameplay, but it successfully captures the dark atmosphere you’d expect from a game set in the world of Vampire: The Masquerade. Instead of playing as vampires themselves, players will be vampire hunters, working to protect humans from these creatures of the night.
The trailer reveals a vampire who works as a police officer named Shaw. He discovers a victim who’s already been restrained and uses his position to cover up the crime. The scene then shifts to the point of view of a hunter who has been thoroughly researching Shaw, trying to determine if he’s a vampire from either the Ventrue or Lasombra clans.
The trailer for Hunter: The Reckoning – Deathwish suggests the game could feature cooperative play. It ends with a group of hunters preparing to face off against officer Shaw, and each hunter appears to have unique weapons and gear – things like shotguns, a hacking tool, and a stake designed to immobilize vampires.
The trailer concludes with glimpses of the game’s environments, confirms it’s a first-person shooter, briefly showcases a stealth attack, and reveals a terrifying monster.
