Although the BBC hasn’t made an official announcement, actor Shaquille Ali-Yebuah recently told TopMob that filming for season 16 of Death in Paradise will begin at the end of April.
Earlier this year, Sebastian Rose mentioned they were heading back to Guadeloupe to get some sun. They joked about looking pale, comparing themselves to Bart Simpson, and expressed excitement about the trip.
So what might be in store in the upcoming instalment?
Read on for everything we know so far about Death in Paradise season 16.
When could a potential Death in Paradise season 16 air?
As a huge fan, I’m always looking forward to the next season! Usually, new episodes drop in January, and unless something unexpected happens, I’m predicting season 16 will premiere in January 2027.
Which cast could return for a potential Death in Paradise season 16?

Everyone was surprised when Ginny Holder didn’t come back for season 15. However, we currently anticipate seeing these cast members return:
- Don Warrington as Selwyn Patterson
- Don Gilet as Mervin Wilson
- Shantol Jackson as Naomi Thomas
- Shaquille Ali-Yebuah as Sebastian Rose
- Catherine Garton as Mattie Fletcher.
- Élizabeth Bourgine as Catherine Bordey
The new season will feature many guest stars. Season 15 already included well-known actors like Siobhan Finneran, Hermione Norris, and Steffan Rhodri.

Honestly, I’m really hoping we see Daniel Ward back as Solomon, Mervin’s brother – he was great in that role! And I’d love to see what happens with Avah Cotterell’s character, Eloise, the detective’s niece. It’ll be interesting to see if they bring either of them back for another go.
What could happen in a potential Death in Paradise season 16?

In addition to the ongoing weekly cases that challenge the team, we might also see Mervin’s connections with Solomon and Eloise grow stronger, and potentially be introduced to more of the Wilson-Clarke family.
We also anticipate finding out more about Mattie’s past and the difficult experiences that have been hinted at throughout season 15.
We’re keeping an eye on Selwyn, Naomi, Seb, and Catherine, and we really hope the mayor finds a true and lasting love.
Death in Paradise airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
