Travis Kelce excels at making lasting first impressions, particularly when introducing fresh faces to the Kansas City Chiefs.
On the “New Heights” podcast’s episode from June 25, 2021, Chiefs guard Trey Smith was questioned about reminiscing on some of his initial encounters with Kelce, who is 35 years old, following his draft to the team.
Jason Kelce, the co-host, playfully remarked that everyone recalls their initial encounter with Trav, as it’s an experience difficult to forget.
That appeared to be true for Smith, 26, who quickly called out Travis’ “crazy energy” on the field.
Smith reminisced about a game against the Cleveland Browns, saying “What I cherished so much…it could have been my debut match. You scored a touchdown,” he recounted, excitedly slapping your helmet in the end zone because you were ‘crazy’, as he put it. “I get it, I get it. I adore it. Whenever Trav ignites the team like that, I’m right there with him, let’s make this game happen!

Beyond the playful banter, it’s worth noting that Smith has developed a deep respect for Travis’ leadership. In his own words, “One thing I can’t help but mention – particularly as a late-round draft pick and a young player – is your kindness, man. It’s not something you have to do.
Smith emphasized that Travis truly demonstrates compassion towards those in his company, as he put it, “You’re not shy about sharing your emotions, are you? That’s what I noticed most. … In fact, you always find time for others. You show concern for others. To me, that says a lot [about] someone. … You’ve never been unkind to me or disregarded me, have you?
Travis took in the praise, telling Smith, “It means the most coming from you, brother.”

After a challenging season culminating in the Chiefs’ defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2025 Super Bowl, Travis announced his intention to return for his 13th NFL season. Both he and Smith are eager for what lies ahead following the Chiefs’ addition of some fresh talent.
Smith expressed on Wednesday that he believes our goal remains unchanged: another Lombardi Trophy. Last year, we fell just short, but that only fuels our motivation. The desire to return to the Super Bowl and secure another victory is strong within me.
As a dedicated lifestyle expert, I’m just as focused on getting our Kansas City Chiefs back to their winning ways as my teammate, Travis, has expressed recently. It’s our collective priority to ensure the team’s success and restore the glory of the Chiefs.
He expressed that football remains his top priority, stating, “Football is always going to take the lead.” His passion for the sport is unwavering, and it continues to be his cherished dream from childhood. This offseason, he’s dedicated himself to maximizing his potential in football, making it the foremost concern in both his professional and career decisions. In essence, football will always hold the number one position in his business and career plans.
