15 Big New Games of April 2026

Following two months of incredibly successful game releases, April promises another strong lineup of titles. We’re looking at highly anticipated games from Housemarque, the creator behind the Just Cause and Mad Max games, Christofer Sundberg, plus a major exclusive coming to PlayStation 5, and even a fighting game based on a popular modern comic book series – and it all begins with…

Samson: A Tyndalston Story

It’s often strange revisiting the place you grew up, but for Samson, a return to Tyndalston isn’t about nostalgia – it’s about a growing debt. The game puts you on a tight schedule, forcing you to choose between jobs like getaway driving or working for the local criminals. Expect brutal, no-holds-barred combat and chaotic car action reminiscent of Mad Max. Priced at $25, Samson launches on April 8th and aims to deliver a lot of bang for your buck.

DarkSwitch

Cyber Temple’s DarkSwitch challenges you to build upwards and defend against a spreading, ominous fog. You’ll need to construct defenses and explore dangerous areas to stay alive, drawing inspiration from the tower defense genre. The game’s atmosphere is perfectly captured by the soundtrack, composed by the renowned Akira Yamaoka. DarkSwitch features a robust story mode offering over 20 hours of gameplay and could be a surprising hit when it releases on April 9th.

Replaced

Get ready for a dark and immersive experience with Replaced, a cinematic platformer from Sad Cat Studios launching April 14th. This long-awaited game throws you into a unique world featuring AI trapped inside a human body, an alternate America controlled by powerful companies, and the aftermath of a nuclear disaster. With beautiful 2.5D visuals and a fluid combat system similar to the Batman: Arkham games, Replaced offers around eight to twelve hours of intense gameplay. Expect a haunting and unpredictable story with some tough things to say about our world.

Starfield (PS5) and Terran Armada

Bethesda’s new game, and the story expansion Terran Armada, are launching on PS5 on April 7th. The base game costs $49.99, and the DLC is $10, making it a great time for PlayStation players to jump into the Settled Systems, particularly with the recent Free Lanes update. This update improves space travel and adds new companions, outpost features, locations, and upgrade options. Terran Armada itself offers a compelling new story, unique missions, new ships, and a companion character similar to HK-47 named Delta.

Regions of Ruin: Runegate

I was surprised to learn that a sequel to the 2018 game Regions of Ruin was being made, especially considering its unique pixel art and complex gameplay. Runegate, launching on April 14th, continues the original’s story: you’ll explore a broken world, aid fellow dwarves, gather supplies, and try to build a new home. This time, it boasts more diverse environments, improved graphics, and a lot more content, aiming to be the ultimate Regions of Ruin experience.

Road to Vostok (Early Access)

If you’re eager for more content before the first story expansion for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 arrives this summer, Road to Vostok might be a good option. It enters early access on April 7th and challenges you to explore the dangerous, post-apocalyptic landscapes between Finland and Russia, eventually leading to Vostok. You’ll have to scavenge for resources and build up a strong collection of weapons while dealing with changing weather, bandits, and even soldiers. Be warned: dying in Vostok means losing all your progress. While it’s not a full game release, players looking for a tough survival shooter could enjoy it.

Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred

While the previous update, Vessel of Hatred, didn’t quite hit the mark, the upcoming Lord of Hatred expansion for Diablo 4 looks much more exciting. Launching on April 28th, it throws the world into chaos once again thanks to the return of Mephisto. You’ll journey to the brand new region of Skovos, filled with interesting locations and hordes of demons, to ultimately defeat him. Two new classes – the Paladin and Warlock – add even more ways to play and customize your character, and Blizzard is also improving the Skill Tree and bringing back the beloved Horadric Cube. Hopefully, this expansion will be what Diablo 4 needs to truly shine. We’re keeping our fingers crossed!

MOUSE: P.I. For Hire

Imagine the charming, classic animation style of Cuphead mixed with the fast-paced action of old-school shooters. That’s MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, a gritty noir adventure where you play as Jack Prepper, a private investigator. He starts with a simple missing person case, but quickly uncovers a much larger mystery. The game’s beautiful, hand-drawn visuals really bring the world of Mouseburg to life. And it’s not just a pretty face – it’s a shooter with a variety of weapons, from standard pistols and shotguns to more unusual options like freeze rays and even corrosive turpentine! MOUSE: P.I. For Hire releases on April 16th and offers 12-20 hours of gameplay for $30.

Pragmata

Instead of ghosts, the Moon in Pragmata is filled with killer robots! Launching April 17th, this game isn’t a typical survival horror experience like Resident Evil. You play as Hugh, who’s sent to investigate a lunar base after communication is lost, only to find himself in the middle of a robot rebellion. He teams up with the android Diana – she hacks systems while he provides the muscle. The unique gameplay requires you to solve puzzles and shoot enemies at the same time, creating a thrilling and fresh experience. After playing a demo, we’re eager for the full release!

Saros

In Housemarque’s new game, Saros, the protagonist, Arjun Devraj, has a long journey ahead of him. He’s exploring the mysterious planet Carcosa, searching for traces of a lost expedition, when a catastrophic event called the Eclipse begins to warp the landscape and ultimately causes the sun to die. But death isn’t the end – it’s just the beginning of the challenges he and his crew face, including terrifying creatures and the search for vital clues and weapons. Saros builds on the fast-paced action of Returnal with a new shield mechanic, allowing players to deflect damage and strike back. Saros launches on April 30th and promises to be another excellent exclusive for PlayStation 5, even for those new to the series.

Invincible VS

Responding to the demand for team-based fighting games, Quarter Up’s new game based on the popular superhero series features 18 playable characters, including popular choices like Invincible, Omni-Man, BattleBeast, and Conquest. The game offers diverse character classes, active and counter abilities, and smooth online play thanks to rollback netcode. If you prefer single-player action, there’s also a story mode where you can experience all the intense battles. It launches on April 30th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.

Spark in the Dark (Early Access)

Stellar Fish’s new game, Spark in the Dark, feels like a classic dungeon crawler, but it has a unique appeal and rough-around-the-edges quality. The angled viewpoint and slower gameplay, combined with the truly dark setting, make encountering monsters particularly frightening. It launches in early access on April 7th, offering a taste of the first levels, and we’re excited to explore what it has to offer.

MotoGP 26

Milestone deserves credit for releasing its third racing game in just three months! MotoGP 26 focuses on the excitement of professional motorcycle racing, and you can choose between Arcade and Pro modes to adjust the difficulty. This installment looks to be the most comprehensive yet, featuring a deep career mode, cross-platform play (excluding Nintendo Switch), and new racing types like Minibikes, Flat Tracks, and Production Bikes.

WILL: Follow the Light

Featured prominently at Steam Next Fest with its striking graphics, WILL: Follow the Light is a moving adventure about a father’s journey home. It won’t be easy – Will faces dangerous landscapes, including islands, mountains, and the open sea, all to reach his hometown and rescue his son. The game features plenty of puzzles and tells its story through the environment, but it’s the immersive atmosphere and the mystery behind the truth that truly stand out. WILL: Follow the Light will be released on PC on April 28th.

Kiln

Double Fine is known for excellent platform games, and while Kiln is a bit different than what I anticipated, it definitely feels like a Double Fine creation. It’s a unique multiplayer game where you actually become a pot – one you design yourself – and battle in an arena. The cool part is how the shape of your pot affects how it plays. Kiln launches on April 23rd for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
