Doctor Who legend Laurie Webb has died at the age of 101.
Roger Webb portrayed Mr. Ollis in the 1972-1973 Doctor Who serial, ‘The Three Doctors.’ Following Arnold Yarrow’s passing in December 2024, Webb became the longest-lived person still connected to the show.
Actor and writer Toby Hadoke announced on X (formerly Twitter) that Laurie Webb, best known as Mr. Ollis from the Doctor Who story ‘The Three Doctors,’ has passed away peacefully. He was 101 years old, just five weeks shy of his 102nd birthday. The news was shared by Webb’s family.
“What a life, what a man. Delightful company too.”
I first discovered the wonderful John Webb way back in 1958 when he popped up on ‘Sid Caesar Invites You’ – a really funny show! He became a familiar face on British television after that, appearing in some classic series like ‘Hancock’s Half Hour’ in ’59, and then later in shows like ‘King of the River’ in ’66, ‘The Troubleshooters’ in ’70, and even ‘Paul Temple’ and ‘Doomwatch’ both in ’71. He really was a versatile actor who showed up in everything!

He first appeared in Doctor Who in 1972 as Arthur Ollis, a game warden at Minsbridge Wild Life Sanctuary, in the story ‘The Three Doctors’. Later, in 2023, footage of his performance from that story was used in the series ‘Tales of the TARDIS’.
I was so saddened to hear about the passing of Laurie Webb, who lived an incredible 101 years. I had the pleasure of working with him while filming ‘Looking for Lennie,’ and he was just a truly wonderful, kind-hearted person. It was a really moving experience, and I’ll always remember his good nature. Rest in peace, Laurie.
The Tony Hancock Appreciation Society announced with sadness the passing of Laurie Webb, a beloved friend and frequent guest on Hancock’s Half Hour, at the age of 101. He enjoyed a long and successful career in theatre, supplementing his stage work with television appearances, including a role in Dr Who. He was a kind and generous man, always appreciative of his fans.
