A24’s upcoming vampire film, Flesh of the Gods, has recast one of its leading roles. Wagner Moura will now star in place of Oscar Isaac.
The actor, recently nominated for an Academy Award for his role in The Secret Agent, will star with Kristen Stewart (known for Twilight) in a film set in 1980s Los Angeles. They will play a married couple.
Isaac was initially cast in the role, but had to drop out recently because his schedule changed, according to Deadline.
The new movie, “Flesh of the Gods,” tells the story of Raoul and Alex, a married couple living in 1980s Los Angeles. Each night, they leave their upscale apartment and enter the exciting and vibrant nightlife of the city. The film was first announced in 2024.
Raoul and Alex meet a captivating and secretive woman named Nameless and her group of wild companions. They’re drawn into a dazzling, dreamlike world filled with pleasure, excitement, and danger.

The screenplay is by Kevin Andrew Walker, who also wrote Se7en. Panos Cosmatos, known for directing Mandy, is the director, and Adam McKay, of The Big Short, is producing the film.
In January, Joaquim de Almeida Moura achieved a historic milestone at the Oscars by becoming the first Brazilian nominated for Best Actor, a recognition earned for his work in “The Secret Agent.”
The actor portrays Marcelo, a tech specialist who gets caught up in a political plot during the 1970s military dictatorship in Brazil, in this suspenseful thriller.

He’ll also be lending his voice to a new character in the upcoming animated Star Wars series, Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, which will be available on Disney+ starting April 6th.
Though ‘Flesh of the Gods’ is Moura’s first vampire project, he’ll be working with Kristen Stewart, who is well-known for her role in the ‘Twilight’ films.
