Approximately 18 months have passed since the premiere and conclusion of the first season of “Hazbin Hotel” on Amazon Prime Video. Swiftly gaining popularity among animated series, the character Charlie Morningstar and her unconventional companions have already been assured not only a second season but also two more after that. As fans eagerly anticipate the release date for the upcoming second season of this fantastical show, an unexpected announcement has been made by the cast about season three. With “Hazbin Hotel” set to host a significant panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, which is just around the corner, we might not have to wait much longer for seasons two and three.
At Galaxy Con, voice actor Christian Borle shared some exciting updates about Hazbin Hotel. He mentioned that he’s just wrapped up recording for season 3 and will soon start working on season 4. In his own words, “We finished season three last week, and we’ll start season four next month. Your enthusiasm and commitment to the series have made this possible, so thank you so much!” This announcement doesn’t guarantee that animation is complete yet, but it’s a promising sign for fans eagerly anticipating the hotel’s future escapades in the underworld.
An Alastor x Rosie Future?
Leslie Kritzer, voice actor for Rosie, shared her struggle to avoid spoilers for the forthcoming seasons due to her character’s role. In particular, she admitted, “It’s quite challenging because I almost just leaked a spoiler and you guys are clever. You’re like ‘I know you can’t reveal it but… is Alastor and Rosie together? I don’t know!'” Since Alastor, the radio demon, played a significant part in Hazbin Hotel’s initial season and has been confirmed to be a key player again in the upcoming second season, there’s plenty of room for the influential character in Charlie Morningstar’s life.
At San Diego Comic-Con last year, Vivienne Medrano, the creator of Hazbin Hotel, revealed some details about the upcoming second season and how Alastor’s character will develop more. During a previous panel, she confirmed that his backstory would be explored, stating, “I made it a top priority to establish this backstory because it completes the circle for me, not only as a storyteller but also since I’ve had this character for so long. So, I’m really looking forward to seeing the authentic, on-screen portrayal of his backstory that fans will see. I’ve been holding onto this storyline for a while now, so I’m very excited for its release.
The San Diego Comic-Con panel has an earlier-than-expected date; it’s happening on Thursday, July 24th, and you can look forward to the “Hazbin Hotel” event. Here’s hoping that the second season of this series will stream on Amazon Prime Video in 2020.
