Marcus “Buff” Bagwell is entering a new fight.
In a heartfelt account, the retired wrestler shared a moving glimpse of the day he underwent amputation on his leg, an event that transpired five years following a car accident that damaged his knee.
Marcus, age 55, expressed to his friend and ex-professional wrestler Maven Klate Huffman before his surgery (YouTube video shared on July 22), “There’s no replacement for being in this skin that I’ve been in for five years. Every car ride, every step, everything. I’ve just been really working to make something good out of a difficult situation. And today, things will shift.
Just prior to being taken for surgery, Marcus shared his thoughts on why he feels it’s wise to undergo amputation of his leg.
The five-time World Tag Team champion expressed great enthusiasm, saying, “I’m absolutely thrilled for what’s coming! I truly believe a fresh chapter awaits me. A new opportunity. I’ll soon have a functional and flexible limb again, which means I can interact with my grandkids and improve the quality of my life. So, I’m looking forward to this change!
He added, “That’s five years of my leg not bending. I want a knee that can bend.”
The physician concurred with Marcus’ sentiments and reassured him that the surgical procedure, which involved amputation just below the knee, would enhance his overall well-being.
Today’s news brings a glimmer of relief, my friend. The improvements I speak of will not only ease your discomfort but also enhance your daily functioning, making those tasks you once found challenging feel more manageable.
Immediately following my surgery, I couldn’t wait to share my first impressions with my beloved Stacy Brown and my dear friend Maven.
Marcus explained, “I initially woke up with a severe ache in my back. As I looked around, I could sense the presence of my ankle without any actual pain. It felt as though I could reach down and touch it, and it was indeed there. Then, for about 10 seconds, I braced myself, expecting another blow.
He added, “I was expecting either tears or ‘Let’s move on, my brother.’ Instead, we moved on to the next phase. It took me aback a tad, finding nothing where I expected something.
And as Marcus moves ahead in his life, he’s more optimistic.
To be honest, this journey has been quite challenging, and I’m feeling weary,” he admitted. “However, despite my fear, I’m still standing strong and more hopeful than ever before. In the upcoming episode, you’ll witness me departing from the hospital and embarking on my initial steps towards rehabilitation and recovery. This is merely the start.

He pointed out that pain appears intermittently, expressing, “There seem to be quite a few issues with my body, some slightly off and others not functioning perfectly.
The former contestant from Bachelor Nation disclosed that he had to visit the hospital, moving on all fours because of severe back pain that intensified during a camping trip in an RV with a companion.
In the March 2025 episode of his “Trading Secrets” podcast, he remarked, “Even now, from my knees to my toes, it’s strangely numb, which is astonishing.” To provide some context, let me clarify that not so long ago, around two to four weeks back, I was managing a weight of about 295 pounds during squats. She urged everyone to seize any opportunity to give hugs, as life can unexpectedly change in an instant.
In a somewhat unexpected turn of events, Amy Schumer is grateful that the internet, not usually known for its kindness, provided her with valuable insights. After a series of interviews, she found herself under scrutiny, but doctors chiming in on social media platforms suggested she might have Cushing syndrome, possibly due to elevated cortisol levels or steroid injections. Upon realizing she had been regularly receiving such injections for scar treatments, Amy was diagnosed with Cushing syndrome. Fortunately, the type she has will naturally resolve itself, bringing her immense relief.

Hailey later shared this experience on YouTube, recounting how Justin asked if she was alright, but she couldn’t respond due to her uncertainty. When he asked again, she tried to reply, only to find that she couldn’t form a sentence.
Despite the temporary resolution of her symptoms, Hailey decided to visit a hospital for a check-up. There, doctors discovered a small blood clot in her brain, categorized as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA). Further examination at the University of California, Los Angeles revealed that she had a heart condition called patent foramen ovale (PFO), through which a blood clot had traveled from her heart to her brain.
Hailey underwent a successful PFO closure procedure and reported feeling well since then.
In the same year as Hailey’s health crisis, Justin also faced his own medical challenge. Specifically, in June 2022, the “Baby” singer disclosed that he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition causing temporary facial paralysis which led to the cancellation of the rest of his Justice World Tour. He mentioned that it was challenging for him to eat due to the condition, but eventually, the paralysis subsided. Emilia Clarke, famously known for her role in Game of Thrones, recounted her personal battle not on screen, but in real life. In 2019, she penned an essay titled “A Battle for My Life” for The New Yorker.
In the essay, she described a sudden, severe headache at the gym that led to vomiting and escalating pain. She suspected her brain was injured. Rushed to the hospital, she underwent a scan that revealed a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a critical type of stroke caused by bleeding around the brain. In simpler terms, an aneurysm had ruptured in her artery.
The immediate surgery to seal the aneurysm was excruciatingly painful for her. During recovery, she experienced aphasia and spoke nonsensical words. A week later, the aphasia subsided, and she was discharged from the hospital after a month-long stay.
However, a follow-up scan in 2013 showed the growth had doubled in size, requiring another surgery. She recalled waking up from the procedure in agony, as it had failed. The doctors explained that her chances of survival were slim if they didn’t operate again, this time through her skull.

She experienced issues such as losing her hearing, having trouble walking without needing long periods of rest, and stomach problems with almost everything she ate. This was a mix of various health concerns and conflicting diagnoses from different doctors.
To find answers, Shailene, who has a holistic background and studies herbalism, sought help from both conventional medical professionals and independent healers. This journey took over a decade. During this time, her physical discomfort led to other issues like fear of food, body dysmorphia, confusion about identity, and feelings of insecurity in her own body.
After addressing both her physical and mental health, Shailene is now feeling much better and can say that she’s healthy once again.
