Fate of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Revealed After Season 2

The Russos are headed back to Waverly Place once more.

Disney has announced that Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, the sequel to Wizards of Waverly Place, will be back for a third and final season this summer.

The series will end with a special four-part event. Selena Gomez, a star of the original show, will direct the first episode and return as Alex Russo. David Henrie, who played Justin Russo, will also be back.

In season two of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, it was revealed that Alex is the mother of Billie Russo (played by Janice LeAnn Brown). The season ended with Alex making a selfless sacrifice to protect Billie from her dangerous grandfather.

In season three, Billie is still grieving her mother’s death, but she learns that finding her father might be the key to seeing her mother again.

The season continues with Alex’s family uniting in the search for her, and Billie discovering that their strength as a team is the only way to overcome the evil that’s affecting them, according to Variety.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place debuted in 2024 with a first season of 21 episodes, and a second season of 10 episodes. The series picks up the story of the Russo family, who were originally featured in Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place, which aired from 2007 to 2012.

Since the original series ended, Selena has been candid about how much the show meant to her.

During a 2023 episode of the Wizards of Waverly Pod podcast, the 33-year-old told Jennifer Stone and David DeLuise that she felt a strong connection with her costars. She realized later that those were the people she truly needed in her life, and she felt safe around them – something she admitted was difficult for her to experience. She expressed gratitude for their acceptance, saying they loved her for who she was.

Selena shared that she was grateful for the genuine love she received, saying it was all she could have ever wanted. She deeply missed the unconditional trust and strong connection they all shared.

The singer of “Who Says” said she felt happier than ever while filming the show.

She explained that things are different now because she’s receiving much more attention than she used to, and she fondly remembers a simpler time before that happened.
