ABC has delivered many popular TV shows, including The Rookie and Abbott Elementary. But the 2024 series High Potential, starring Kaitlin Olson, has really stood out, breaking viewership records since it first aired. As the second season comes to a close, High Potential is quickly gaining popularity on streaming platforms.
According to FlixPatrol, High Potential is currently the fourth most popular show on Disney+ globally. The crime series is performing well in several countries, including Albania, Australia, Romania, and Switzerland, and actually reached the top spot in Singapore. In the U.S., you can watch High Potential on Hulu, where it’s currently ranked eighth.
High Potential Is an Adaptation of a Franco-Belgian TV Show
The new ABC show, High Potential, premiered on September 17, 2024. It’s based on the French-Belgian series HPI, which stands for “Haut potentiel intellectuel” – French for “high potential intellectual.” The American version stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan Gillory, a brilliant woman with an IQ of 160.
This police show combines crime investigation with humor, featuring Morgan, who helps the LAPD solve cases using her unusual way of thinking and impressive memory. She teams up with Detective Karadec (Daniel Sunjata), as well as Detectives Daphne Forrester (Javicia Leslie) and Lev “Oz” Özdil (Deniz Akdeniz).
In the TV show High Potential, Judy Reyes stars as Lieutenant Selena Soto, who heads up the LAPD’s Major Crimes unit. Steve Howey joined the cast in Season 2 as the new Captain. The show, like White Collar or Psych, combines a weekly case with a lighthearted tone.
High Potential Has an Impressive Rotten Tomatoes Score
The show High Potential is receiving a lot of positive attention from both viewers and critics. It boasts an impressive 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with its first season scoring 96% and the second season achieving a perfect 100%. On IMDb, the show has a rating of 7.5 based on over 47,000 reviews.
Kaitlin Olson’s comedic skills have earned a lot of praise, and those familiar with her work aren’t surprised. Her new show, High Potential, features a familiar detective-consultant dynamic, reminiscent of popular series like Bones and Elementary. Good news for fans – Season 2 will be extra long, with 18 episodes.
The show High Potential is still very popular on streaming platforms, and many viewers are now watching earlier episodes in preparation for the season finale. The finale will be released on April 7th, and there’s good news for fans: the show has been renewed for more episodes.
High Potential is available to stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ worldwide.
