While testing the device, a younger Shaw unexpectedly travels through a portal and speaks directly to the older Lee.

According to Suzuki, their attempt to locate Godzilla by forcing energy into the rift could have caused strange quantum effects due to the rift’s remaining power. We learn through flashbacks that photos of Titan X were key to Monarch securing the money needed to establish its bases. But the biggest reveal about the creature happens in the present day, as Keiko and Cate investigate Cate’s personal link to Titan X.

Their research shows that the sounds of Titan X aren’t aggressive battle cries, but expressions of fear and loneliness. This discovery makes Lee’s plan to bring in Godzilla to fight Titan X even more misguided. The plan was already risky, but now it seems Titan X isn’t a real threat at all, according to season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.
