I noticed something interesting the other day while checking out the PlayStation website! It looks like they’ve quietly updated the page for PS Studios, their group of in-house game developers. Fans are already pointing it out – it seems like things have changed a bit!
As pointed out by X user Zuby_Tech, there are some small but potentially meaningful adjustments.
Reports suggest Sony plans to stop focusing on PCs and will instead prioritize developing its PlayStation console business.
Well, fans are interpreting these changes on the PS Studios website to reinforce that notion.
The two standout examples are Valkyrie Entertainment and XDEV.
Valkyrie Studio was known for creating high-quality games for various platforms, including consoles and PCs.
We partner with PlayStation Studios to help create some of their most popular and critically acclaimed games, like Astro Bot, Helldivers 2, and God of War, offering expert co-development services.
Any mention of alternative platforms has been removed.
The change for XDEV is more subtle. Previously, they described themselves as working with ambitious studios around the world. Now, they say they partner with talented independent studios to release unique games for PlayStation players globally.
Okay, so they never actually said anything about a PC version, but everyone’s focusing on the word “exclusive.” That’s what’s got fans like me really thinking something’s up!
Although this might be true, it’s worth noting that Nixxes Software’s official description still highlights their expertise in creating PC versions of games.
We’ve also updated this page to reflect the recent closure of Bluepoint Games, and to introduce TeamLFG, a new studio working on a game called Project Gummy Bears.
What are your thoughts? Does it seem like Sony has stopped planning to release games on PC? Let us know what you think in the comments!
