Despite hinting at future plans for The Last of Us, Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann is currently prioritizing Intergalactic, which is reportedly aiming for a release around mid-2027. Meanwhile, creative director Shaun Escayg appears to be involved in a different project – possibly a new Uncharted game, based on a recent post on Instagram.
The photo shows a historic cannon positioned on a wall, with a coastal city spread out below. It looks like a typical vacation snapshot, except for the caption Escayg added: “Research…” What is he researching? He doesn’t specify, but given how closely it matches the adventures of Nathan Drake – traveling the world, discovering ancient sites, and facing off against pirates – it’s a pretty clear hint about the game Uncharted.
It’s likely we’ll see another game from this series soon. Naughty Dog has stated they’re developing several new, original single-player games – meaning they aren’t remakes. Plus, rumors suggest that one Naughty Dog employee has been quietly working on a secret project for nearly four years, and it might be the same one another employee is currently producing.
It’s possible we might see something unexpected, like a new Jak and Daxter game. However, considering it’s been almost ten years since Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and that Escayg also co-directed Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, it seems more likely Nathan Drake will be back. Hopefully, we’ll find out more details later this year.
