Xbox has announced its upcoming game The Outer Worlds 2 won’t retail for $80 after all.
The follow-up to Obsidian Entertainment’s sci-fi RPG, which is due out in late October, will mark the debut of a game from Microsoft carrying the higher price point of $79.99 for the first time.
Consequently, the game encountered quite a bit of criticism from fans, as one would anticipate. As a result, its retail price has been adjusted to $69.99.
The lower price point was recently confirmed on social media:
Microsoft confirmed to IGN that all their full-priced holiday releases will have uniform pricing.
Our primary goal is to offer players immersive realms to delve into, and we plan to maintain the regular price for our premium game launches, such as The Outer Worlds 2, at a cost of $69.99, which aligns with the present industry standards.
If you’ve previously reserved The Outer Worlds 2 for $79.99 through any platform, Xbox advises that you should be eligible for a refund from your chosen seller. Keep in mind that the processing time might vary according to the retailer, so it may take a few days before the refund is completed.
Absolutely, if you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, you won’t have to pay anything additional when the game launches. This might bring some comfort to those who aren’t part of the ecosystem, as they will only have to pay a somewhat fairer price.
The release of the popular game Mario Kart World marked a significant milestone by pricing it at $80, sparking discussions on whether video games are overpriced and prompting certain publishers to explore more affluent markets.
