
Following much debate about its initial $79.99 price tag, Obsidian Entertainment has decided to lower the price of The Outer Worlds 2 to $69.99. In a tongue-in-cheek tweet as the Earth Directorate, the developer acknowledged that this change wouldn’t bring tranquility to the galaxy or even your settlement, but assured everyone that they are committed to fighting for every colony in any way possible.
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that the Premium Edition is still priced at $99.99, offering me a five-day headstart before the game’s launch and access to two expansions coming post-release. Plus, it comes with the Corporate Appreciation Premium Pack. This price point follows Microsoft’s announcement in May about $80 first-party triple-A titles for the near future. It’s also worth noting that they’ve confirmed an increase in the prices of Xbox Series X/S hardware and accessories.
In response to an inquiry about the price last June, Director Brandon Adler stated, “As a game development company, we’re passionate about creating games, not setting their prices.” He further clarified that for information on the $79.99 price point, one should directly contact the Xbox team.
