After the second season of “Solo Leveling,” the exploits of Jinwoo Sung have become a major highlight in contemporary anime. Despite its blockbuster success, A-1 Pictures has yet to announce a third season, leaving fans wondering how long they’ll need to wait for the “world’s worst hunter” to reappear. During this year’s Anime Expo, the team responsible for the anime adaptation came to the U.S. to share insights about the series and its potential future. Although it’s not an official confirmation, producer Atsushi Kaneko has dropped hints about his and the team’s aspirations for the anime’s possible comeback.
During an interview with ScreenRant, Kaneko expressed that while the anime adaptation of Solo Leveling has received a positive response, it’s not as well-known as popular series like Dragon Ball and Naruto, especially in Japan. As a Japanese resident, he feels that the anime hasn’t reached the same level of fame as these other titles. However, if season three is produced, Kaneko hopes to surpass this barrier and gain broader recognition for Solo Leveling.
Solo Leveling’s Bright Future
Given the widespread acclaim of the anime adaptation from WEBTOON’s Solo Leveling, it appears imminent that Jinwoo will grace our screens again soon. This is largely due to the abundance of unadapted battles and narratives remaining within the original manhwa. Although the printed story has reached its conclusion, implying a limited number of seasons left for the anime, the series currently finds itself in the midst of its spin-off series. Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, focusing on Jinwoo’s son, suggests that we could be enjoying many more years of escapades within this universe.
In recent news, Netflix revealed their plans to incorporate the popular series Solo Leveling into their collection of live-action anime adaptations. Confirmed is a new television series featuring Byeon Woo-seok, though we’re yet to learn when it might air. The show promises to join other beloved series like One Piece and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Given the numerous monsters Jinwoo vanquishes during his adventures, it’s safe to assume that the live-action adaptation of Solo Leveling will heavily rely on computer graphics. For those eager to see Woo-seok in action before he takes on the role of the “world’s worst hunter,” he has previously starred in films such as Ashfall, Like a Virgin, Castaway on the Moon, and My Dictator. The question remains whether the anime’s third season or Netflix’s live-action adaptation will make its debut first.
