Amazon’s hit show The Boys is heading into its fifth and final season, bringing the story of the heroic team and their supervillain enemies to a close. Following the events of Season 4, the superpowered individuals, known as Supes, now have unprecedented control, thanks to Homelander’s takeover of the U.S. government. With Homelander no longer pretending to be a hero, anyone who opposes him faces serious danger.
Season 5 will tell a different story, with at least one member of The Seven switching sides and opposing the current leadership. This will give The Boys a boost – more superpowers to work with and an insider helping them – but it will also significantly increase the risks they face throughout the season.
In an exclusive interview with MovieWeb, the actor who plays A-Train talked about the significant changes coming for his character in Season 5 of The Boys. He explained that while he’s always understood Homelander’s true nature, this will be the first time A-Train actively confronts him, which the actor describes as a freeing experience for his character.
A-Train has always understood who Homelander truly is, but he’s been afraid to admit it. He’s kept quiet about what he knows and has witnessed at Vought, and for some reason, he’s consistently defended his abuser. Now, he’s finally speaking up, being honest with both others and himself, which is incredibly freeing, though also dangerous. It’s like he’s taken a huge risk, removing any safety net. He’s now trying to figure out his next move, and his world is falling apart around him.
He continued by explaining the importance of having the courage to do what’s right, emphasizing that your words have consequences – something A-Train now fully realizes. This season, A-Train finally prioritizes his own honesty, refusing to hide anymore as he attempts to make amends.
For A-Train, speaking up comes with a cost. He understands the serious consequences of challenging Vought or Homelander, having witnessed what happened to others who did. In Season 4, he reaches a turning point, deciding he’ll no longer stay silent, even if it means risking everything. He’s determined to be honest with himself, his family, and anyone who asks, and he finally shares his true feelings with Ashley. From that moment on, he’s committed to this path, accepting whatever consequences come his way, and refusing to hide anymore.

Recent clips from Season 5 reveal A-Train unexpectedly teaming up with The Boys, and he even shared a hug with Annie before speaking with Kimiko. Usher has hinted at a potentially tragic outcome for his character, leading fans to speculate he might not survive the season. Although no character is safe, the groundwork seems to be laid for A-Train’s departure, particularly if he has a final confrontation with Homelander before the season ends.
The Boys Season 5 will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video on Apr. 8, 2026.
