Jonathan Ross’s new Channel 4 game show Handcuffed gets future confirmed

Channel 4 has reportedly ordered a second season of its popular reality show, Handcuffed: Last Pair Standing, after a strong debut.

Jonathan Ross hosted a show where 18 strangers were chained together and competed for a £100,000 prize. The longer they stayed connected, the better their chances of winning.

The show aimed to bring people with very different viewpoints together, hoping close quarters would encourage conversation and understanding. It appears to have worked, as two contestants with opposing beliefs ultimately won. Plus, reports suggest a celebrity version of the series is in the works. We’ve contacted Channel 4 for confirmation.

According to a source, there’s strong interest not only in renewing the show with regular people, but also in creating a celebrity edition. The idea is that putting stars with opposing viewpoints together would create compelling drama – it would be fascinating to watch!

The show’s creators think this will be very entertaining, but it’s uncertain how long the participants will be able to handle being restrained.

Channel 4 hasn’t officially commented on whether the show will be renewed, but during a press event earlier this year, host Ross was asked about a possible celebrity version and shared some thoughts on which famous faces he’d like to see participate.

Ross jokingly said that Alan Carr is currently willing to do anything. He suggested that if a celebrity version of something were made, he’d prefer to work with celebrities who aren’t usually featured in those kinds of shows, and specifically thought it would be best to avoid people known from reality TV.

I’d be interested in seeing Alexander Armstrong paired with someone from a completely different walk of life – perhaps even handcuffed to them. It would be a fascinating contrast.

I’d love to see Stormzy perform, and there are many other artists they could choose from, but I can’t recall any specific names right now.
