A licensing dispute between Warner Bros Discovery and Paramount has cast uncertainty over the show’s future, including its upcoming twenty-seventh season. However, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have now reached an agreement with the owners of Comedy Central (which is actually Paramount). This means the beloved characters Kyle, Kenny, Stan, and Cartman will continue their adventures! In fact, fans can look forward to more episodes than initially anticipated. So, hold tight everyone, as we’re in for many more years of South Park fun!

I’ve just learned that Park County, home to the quirky series created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, has struck an agreement with Paramount for 50 new episodes over the next five years. This means the show will revert to its original seasonal schedule. Additionally, the previous 26 episodes are slated for a return on Paramount+, although the exact date remains undisclosed. With Season 27 premiering today, July 23rd, enthusiasts can look forward to at least another five years of exploring the peculiar Colorado town and its bizarre escapades that always seem to ensnare its inhabitants.

South Park’s Return

In a recent statement, I observed Chris McCarthy, co-CEO of Paramount, extol the virtues of Matt Stone and Trey Parker, creators of the iconic series “South Park.” He lauded them as unique, innovative minds whose audacious wit and boundary-pushing narratives have cemented South Park’s place among the most cherished and timeless television shows. In other words, creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker are expected to amass approximately $1.5 billion USD over time, marking a substantial profit for the beloved animated series.
