Emmerdale airs Robert Sugden’s emotional revenge on Joe Tate in early ITVX release

Dawn Fletcher is incredibly angry after discovering her boyfriend, Joe Tate, has been secretly involved in some underhanded schemes in Emmerdale.

The trouble began when Joe set his sights on buying Butler’s Farm, the home and business of Moira Dingle. He managed to get half ownership when he unexpectedly witnessed Victoria killing her brother, John, and secretly filmed it.

He then used this video to blackmail her brother Robert (Ryan Hawley) into handing over his share.

Joe promised to let him become a tenant farmer if he could persuade Moira to sell her share of the land. To achieve this, they falsely accused her of modern slavery and murder.

Feeling incredibly stressed and after learning her husband, Cain, had prostate cancer, she contacted Kim Tate and agreed to sign the necessary documents.

Even though Robert moved into Butler’s Farm and changed the name to Emmerdale Farm to remember his family, Joe continues to control him. This became clear earlier this week when Robert understood that Vic wasn’t coming back from Spain because she was afraid Joe might reveal the video of her killing John.

I was totally hooked when I found out Moira was planning a guilty plea to get a lighter sentence. It drove Robert straight to Home Farm, hoping to talk some sense into Joe, but it was clear Joe wasn’t going to feel sorry for anyone. Seeing no other option, Robert tracked down Ross Barton – who clearly had his own issues with Joe – and basically asked if he wanted to team up and give Joe a piece of his mind, or maybe something more.

Today on the show, Robert had to begin the plan by himself because Ross messed things up. He went into Home Farm to get Joe’s laptop and erase the video of Vic, but Dawn caught him right away.

It was natural she had many questions, although the video covered most things. She then assisted Robert in taking it off, which he greatly appreciated, and followed up by speaking with Joe.

Dawn was furious with her boyfriend and accused him of not caring about their family. She was so upset that when she packed a bag and said she was going to stay with her ex-husband, Billy Fletcher, he was shocked.

Is this the end of Joe and Dawn, and a new beginning for Robert? Or will Joe take further revenge?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and from 7am on ITVX.
