The theatrical run of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has concluded in Japan, bringing the film closer to its streaming debut. 2025 was a big year for the Demon Slayer series, marking the return to cinemas with the first movie in a planned trilogy based on the Infinity Castle arc of Koyoharu Gotoge’s manga. Although expected to perform well, the film’s success exceeded all expectations.
I’ve been watching Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle make waves at the box office ever since it premiered in Japan last summer, and it really held strong for almost a year. After numerous extensions and special showings, it’s finally finished its run in Japanese theaters. The final screenings took place earlier this week, on April 9th, after an incredible 266 days in cinemas.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Finally Leaves Theaters

The movie Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle premiered in Japan on July 18, 2025, and played in theaters for an impressive 266 days, concluding its run on April 9th. It earned over $250 million USD in Japan and close to $739 million USD globally. After a continuous run in Japan, the film recently returned to international cinemas with enhanced formats like Screen X for a second release. However, this marked the final weeks for the film’s theatrical run.
Fans outside of Japan will be thrilled to hear this news! While the film has been very popular in Japan since its release in 2025, international fans haven’t had the same opportunity to watch it. They’ve been eagerly awaiting a way to own it on DVD, Blu-ray, or digitally, and now that a home release is planned for Japan, it means those versions will be coming to other countries soon.
When Does Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2 Come Out?

With the successful run of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle wrapping up, promotion for the next movie in the series can now really get underway. It didn’t make sense to start talking about the third film while the first was still so popular, and fans were concerned that it would delay any news about the next installment. Sadly, it’s now confirmed that the third film won’t be released until sometime after 2026.
Ufotable recently announced its upcoming projects, and unfortunately, the next Demon Slayer movie, Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Part 2, isn’t scheduled for release until after 2026. This means fans will have to wait even longer to see what happens next in the series.
