Emmerdale airs crushing Moira Dingle update after new evidence is found in early ITVX release

Emmerdale was filled with urgency today as villagers rushed to locate key evidence that could assist Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb).

She could spend the rest of her life in prison, convicted of a double murder and human trafficking she didn’t commit. The real perpetrators were Celia Daniels and Ray Walters.

Robert Sugden, manipulated by Joe Tate, framed Moira in a scheme to allow the Tate family to buy Butler’s Farm. Robert has been struggling with guilt ever since he discovered Moira was willing to take the blame to reduce her punishment.

The idea of being away from her family for so long was devastating, and she was hoping any punishment would be limited to about four years in prison after confessing.

Robert realized he needed to handle things correctly. After successfully removing a damaging video Joe was using to blackmail him, he reached out to Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) to see if he could recall anything about Moira’s connection to Celia and Ray.

Bear was kept confined to the farm for months and was repeatedly forced by a mother and son to help them hide evidence. He told Robert that he was once made to wash blood off a car and get rid of license plates stored in a self-storage facility.

As viewers may remember, this scene happened when Ray ran over Dylan Penders (played by Fred Kettle) to prevent him from revealing their illegal activities.

Robert and Aaron Dingle rushed to Hotten, hoping to see Ray’s storage unit, but a worker there refused to let them in. The worker said Ray didn’t have a unit registered under his name, and without proof that Robert and Aaron were family, they were denied access.

They first tried to find it on their own, but then realized there were more than 100 boxes scattered across the property.

Everyone reconvened at The Woolpack to figure out their next step. Paddy and Marlon Dingle recalled finding a key on Celia’s property the previous week – it had the letters ‘HSU’ on it.

Robert, Aaron, Mackenzie Boyd, and Matty Barton quickly returned to Hotten. When they entered the unit, a security alarm went off. Inside, they discovered car license plates and other items that could help clear Moira’s name.

This news gave Moira’s husband, Cain (Jeff Hordley), a bit of hope, and he quickly went to the prison – just as she was heading to court – to urge her not to admit guilt.

Back at the storage facility, Detective Sergeant Walsh (Amanda Ryan) explained that her lawyer would need to ask the court to postpone the trial. This was because it would take time to officially record all the new evidence, and the jury might reach a decision before everything was properly documented.

Will Moira be sent down for good?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and from 7am on ITVX.
