Charity Dingle will go into labor next week on Emmerdale, but things don’t go smoothly.
This pregnancy has been full of surprises. Initially, Charity planned to help her granddaughter Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) have a baby. However, Charity unexpectedly became pregnant herself and has been keeping it a secret for months.
She went out to get a cake for her baby shower, and that’s when her water broke! She was quickly taken to Hotten General Hospital, but got stuck in an elevator while going into labor. Will everything be alright?
I was really gripped by Jacob’s courage in reporting Dr. Todd to HR – it took guts! And it’s lovely to see Moira settling into Wishing Well Cottage after everything, especially with the Sugdens now running Butler’s Farm. It feels like a fresh start for everyone.
Here’s a rundown of what’s happening on Emmerdale from Sunday, April 19th, to Friday, April 24th.
5 Emmerdale spoilers for next week
1. Jacob Sugden confronts Dr Todd, and raises a complaint

Jacob is facing a lot of stress this week. He discovered Dr. Todd has been using his past against him, and has even started living at Tug Ghyll. Between the rising tension at work and at home, plus being called to testify in Bear’s trial, Jacob is really feeling overwhelmed.
Ross noticed Jacob seemed troubled and reached out to see what was wrong. He was surprised to learn Jacob’s boss was a woman, and encouraged him to address the issue directly. This advice led Jacob to talk things over with Dr. Todd.

I was really surprised by how quickly things got serious. Jacob, without telling Sarah, decided to go straight to her company’s HR department with his concerns. Even though a coworker, Rich, cautioned him that this could seriously damage his own career, Jacob felt he had no choice but to move forward with the complaint.
When Dr Todd spots Jacob heading into a meeting with HR, it’s clear this battle is far from over.
2. Moira Dingle struggles to cope with life on the outside

Moira is having a hard time readjusting to life at home after new evidence came to light. Without her own place to live, she’s struggling to feel settled.
Moira appreciated Lydia giving her a private moment at Wishing Well, hoping to talk with Cain. But the chance for a real connection was ruined when Sam casually mentioned it to Cain, making him feel caught off guard and vulnerable.

Cain mistakenly believes Moira revealed his personal worries, and he angrily leaves. Moira is stunned and confides in Lydia that her attempt to help has gone wrong.
Now that she’s left the farm, Moira feels lost and without direction. Meanwhile, Robert is secretly burdened by guilt, feeling responsible for the difficult situation she’s in.
3. Charity Dingle’s life hangs in the balance after going into labour

Charity enthusiastically plans Sarah’s baby shower, determined to make it a special day. However, when the bakery cancels at the last minute, Charity and Mack rush out to pick up the cake themselves.
Trouble quickly begins when their car won’t start after a brief stop, leaving them stuck in a remote location with no way to call for help. The situation becomes even more urgent when Charity goes into labor – it’s a classic, over-the-top dramatic moment!
Charity sees a car and manages to stop Ross, who isn’t thrilled but agrees to take her and Jacob to the hospital. Meanwhile, at the baby shower, Sarah arrives and starts to worry when Charity and Jacob don’t show up. Her concern turns to panic when she notices several missed calls on her phone.

Things get worse at the hospital when the elevator carrying Charity, Mack, and Ross breaks down. Trapped inside, Charity becomes increasingly panicked as her labor pains grow stronger. The tight space also brings back difficult memories for Mack related to being trapped in the bunker, while Ross frantically tries to call for help using the elevator’s intercom.
When Sarah got to the hospital, she was shocked to learn they had no information about Charity, and she immediately began to worry intensely.
I was totally engrossed in the story, and then we cut to Jacob, stuck in a really awkward HR meeting. He’s nervously explaining how Dr. Todd was supposedly bullying him, completely oblivious to the chaos happening just upstairs. Just when I thought things couldn’t get more tense, we learn a midwife has received an urgent call – a woman is stuck in an elevator while going into labor, and Sarah immediately knows it’s a critical situation.

The midwife quickly guides Ross and Mack through the delivery over the intercom. Meanwhile, Jacob leaves his meeting to find he’s received many missed calls, much to his shock. When Doctor Todd tries to talk to him, Jacob unexpectedly stands up for himself.
Once Ross helped deliver the baby in the elevator, his relief was immediately replaced by worry when he saw a lot of blood.
4. Kammy Hadiq is invited to a Dingle family function

Belle is buzzing after sharing a kiss with Kammy and eagerly anticipates their upcoming date.
Kammy starts to feel anxious when he learns he’s going to a gathering with the Dingle family, and he begins to worry that he might be in over his head.
How will he cope?
5. Paddy Dingle and April Windsor deal with some bad news

Paddy becomes worried when Zara tells him some bad news: Bear has been put in solitary confinement after a fight in prison. With Bear’s release already uncertain, Paddy is now afraid something terrible has happened.
He and Dylan might also go to jail, giving them time to think about what they’ve done.
When April firmly states she’ll support Dylan no matter what happens in his sentencing, Dylan secretly decides to distance himself from her, hoping to protect her from the fallout.
Paddy is grateful for Mandy’s support at the salon, but he can tell she’s concerned about something. Then, Marlon shares that Dylan wants to end their relationship, leaving everyone wondering if April will accept this without trying to fix things.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and from 7am on ITVX.
