The nominees for the 2026 American Music Awards have been announced, and Taylor Swift is leading the pack with a record number of nominations.
Taylor Swift is already the most-awarded artist in American Music Awards history, with 40 wins. She’s hoping to add to that total at the upcoming ceremony, where she’s nominated in eight categories. If she wins all of them, she’ll tie Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston for the record of most AMA wins in a single year.
Taylor Swift has received nominations in several categories, including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for “Fate of Ophelia,” Best Music Video for the same song, and Song of the Summer for “Elizabeth Taylor.”
Right behind the artist behind “Life of a Showgirl” are Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Dean, sombr, and Morgan Wallen, each with seven nominations. Alex Warren and Lady Gaga are close behind with six nominations each.
Dean, Warren, and sombr (also known as Shane Michael Boose) are up for New Artist of the Year, along with Ella Langley, KATSEYE, and Leon Thomas.
In addition to Taylor Swift, who is a frontrunner for Artist of the Year, Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, BTS, Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, and Kendrick Lamar were also nominated.
If Justin Bieber wins even one of his four nominations, he’ll equal Kenny Rogers’ record for the second-highest number of wins by a male artist.

This year’s nominations include some fresh faces, like Teyana Taylor, who is up for Best Female R&B Artist. Other artists nominated for the first time are PinkPantheress, RAYE, Role Model, and Tate McRae.
EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI—the singers behind the pop group HUNTR/X from KPop Demon Hunters—received three nominations for their song “Golden,” including nominations for Song of the Year, Best Vocal Performance, and Best Pop Song.
The 2026 American Music Awards will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 25th, with Queen Latifah as the host. You can vote for your favorite artists online at VoteAMAs.com or on the @AMAs Instagram page until May 8th.
