The BBC has officially announced that previously unbroadcasted MasterChef episodes will be aired on BBC One and iPlayer. Now, the specific airing date in their schedule has been revealed.
The debut of the upcoming home-cooked version of MasterChef will take place on Wednesday, 6th August at 8 PM. This will be followed by another episode on Thursday, 7th August at the same time, and a third one on Friday, 8th August, starting slightly later at 8:30 PM.
All of these episodes will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer from the Wednesday.
Despite rumors circulating about a potential return of the series following the news that John Torode and Gregg Wallace wouldn’t be part of future episodes, the BBC decided to move forward and broadcast the forthcoming season after thorough deliberation and discussions with contestants.
MasterChef is a remarkable cooking contest that significantly transforms the lives of its participating amateur chefs. The spotlight has consistently been on their culinary abilities and personal journeys throughout.
Making this choice wasn’t simple given the situation, and we understand that not everyone might concur with it. By airing the series, produced last year, we do not imply a lessening of our regard for the validated charges against the presenters. Instead, we view this as a separate decision regarding broadcast content.

At the BBC, we’ve consistently communicated the conduct we anticipate from our employees and program creators.
As a passionate movie-goer, I firmly believe that airing this exceptional series is the just thing to do, especially considering the immense effort these talented chefs have put into their craft. It’s crucial for their hard work to be duly acknowledged, and by broadcasting the series, we give viewers the opportunity to witness their mastery firsthand.
A review conducted by law firm Lewis Silkin uncovered that there were 83 historical claims of misconduct leveled against Wallace, following BBC News reports suggesting that the TV judge made inappropriate sexual comments over a span of 17 years across five different shows. Out of these allegations, 45 were found to be validated.
Following the report, the BBC announced it had “no plans to work with [Wallace] in the future”.
Prior to the release of the Silkin report, Wallace publicly stated via an Instagram post that he was exonerated by the report regarding the most severe and scandalous allegations leveled against him.
He stated that the strongest accusations, even those made by prominent individuals that could not be substantiated, were ultimately determined as unfounded following an extensive and thorough six-month examination.
As a film enthusiast, I acknowledge that on occasion, my humor and choice of words may have crossed the line of appropriateness. For this, I sincerely apologize with no qualms. However, it’s important to clarify that I was never the exaggerated character being portrayed for clicks and views.

On the following day, it was disclosed by the BBC that Torode wouldn’t be part of the series anymore, as a claim of his utilizing racially offensive language within the work environment had been confirmed.
Before the BBC made its official announcement, Torode verified that his name appeared on the report but couldn’t remember being accused of anything specific.
In a recent Instagram post, he stated, “I haven’t received any communication from the BBC or Banijay regarding my status on MasterChef. However, it seems I’ve been let go, and I want to clarify that I have no memory of the allegations against me.
“The investigation failed to provide any specific date or year about when I allegedly made a mistake. I had anticipated having some input regarding my departure from the show I’ve been part of since its reboot in 2005, but recent developments appear to have thwarted that.
The BBC hasn’t decided about the broadcast of the pre-recorded celebrity and holiday specials as of now. Details will be revealed at a later point in 2021.
However, it became apparent that the MasterChef franchise would persist even without the participation of Wallace and Torode, emphasizing that the show itself is a highly acclaimed, cherished production that transcends any single individual.
I’m fortunate to be part of such a remarkable team that brings our show to life. Their talent, dedication, and tireless effort are the foundation upon which our success stands. Rest assured, this show will persist and thrive on the BBC. We eagerly anticipate its triumphant return, stronger than ever before.
