Ufotable is transforming the final storyline of “Demon Slayer” into a three-part movie, and the initial installment has already premiered in Japan. American fans can look forward to watching this visually stunning film on September 12th, 2025. In the penultimate episode of the Hashira Training Arc, the Demon Slayers managed to surround Muzan Kibutsuji, the demon progenitor. Yet, as soon as the battle commenced, Nakime, the demon who constructed the Infinity Castle, drew them into an endless maze filled with the Upper Moons. The Demon Slayers now face the challenge of defeating the Upper Moons before they can confront Muzan Kibutsuji once more.
In the upcoming finale, numerous characters will have their moment to shine, among them being Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira, who was initially introduced in the series. He’s a key figure in Tanjiro Kamado’s life, acting as his strongest ally. However, even Giyu faced personal trials, which were unveiled during the Hashira Training Arc. Moved by Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s request and wanting to repay Giyu’s kindness, Tanjiro chose to stay close and assist him in overcoming his challenges. Despite his burdened past, Tanjiro provided the encouragement Giyu needed. In the latest movie, they join forces against a formidable demon, with Giyu’s voice actor, Takahiro Sakurai, expressing great admiration for the anime adaptation.
Giyu’s Voice Actor Shares Thoughts on the Character’s Growth in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle
Following the debut of “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle” in Japan, the voice actors held a special gathering on stage to celebrate the movie’s premiere. As reported by Oricon, during this event, Sakurai remarked, “The thought that came to mind was the very first episode—the start of the entire series, where Giyu initially met Tanjiro.
Later, there was a significant exchange on the bridge during the Hashira Training Arc. This interaction seemed to inspire Giyu, providing him with the courage and determination to stand tall as a true Hashira, he explained.
Furthermore, Sakurai mentioned, “In this film, Giyu undergoes significant development amidst combat. Witnessing this left a profound impact on me. Simultaneously, the scene illustrates just how brutal this fight really is.
In response to the anime movie, “Between the realistic portrayal of their fighting styles through breathtaking animation and the awe-inspiring moments that showcased both intensity and artistic skill, I found myself utterly captivated. The fight scenes seemed to transcend human capabilities. I couldn’t help but clutch my hands in excitement as I watched.
One key aspect that stands out from the Infinity Castle Arc is the dynamic partnership between Giyu and Tanjiro. Unlike their roles during the Mount Natagumo Arc where Giyu primarily guarded Tanjiro and Nezuko, this arc showcases Tanjiro’s progression. Now, he fights alongside Giyu as peers, rather than staying in a supportive role behind him. Their adversary possesses one of the most formidable powers within the series, which encourages both characters to push their limits and uncover abilities they never knew they possessed.
