Is Kagurabachi Finally Getting an Anime? Breaking Down the Rumors

There’s a lot of exciting new anime on the way from Shonen Jump this year, and I’m hearing a lot of buzz about Kagurabachi possibly being next! Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump is already launching several new anime adaptations of their popular manga, and fans are really hoping Kagurabachi will be among them. It’s part of this recent trend of manga getting anime adaptations, and people were even excited about this one before the first chapter was even released!

Ever since its launch in 2023, Takeru Hokazono’s manga series, Kagurabachi, has been incredibly popular, and fans have been eager for an anime adaptation. Now, with the manga over 100 chapters in and moving into its second part, talk of an anime is heating up again. Recent hints suggest an announcement with some exciting news for the series could be coming soon.

Shueisha is holding a special event called “Jump Press” on April 27th, which will be live-streamed on YouTube in Japan. The event’s promotional image includes characters from popular series like Black Clover, The Promised Neverland, and Sakamoto Days, as well as the newer series Kagurabachi. While it’s unclear what announcements will be made – or even if there will be any new announcements – the event is generating a lot of buzz and speculation.

The creator of the series, Takeru Hokazono, recently started an official Instagram account, which could help him reach a larger audience and potentially hint at an upcoming anime announcement. Fans have long speculated about an anime adaptation of Kagurabachi, with rumors suggesting a possible release as early as 2024. CyberAgent has been mentioned as a potential production studio, but so far, nothing is official.

Is There Enough of Kagurabachi for an Anime?

The biggest hurdle for a Kagurabachi anime might be whether there’s enough source material. While some new manga like Akane-banashi already have over 200 chapters, others such as Kill Blue and Super Psychic Policeman Chojo ended quickly. This shows that timing isn’t a major concern for anime adaptations anymore, as seasons can be spaced out over several years.

The manga Kagurabachi has progressed to a stage where an anime adaptation could cover a substantial amount of story in at least one season. While fans might have to wait a significant time between seasons to allow the manga to get further ahead, getting an anime at all would be a positive step. The first part of the manga now concludes in a way that gives the anime team a solid foundation to build on, and showcases the story’s potential. Whether an adaptation actually happens remains to be seen.
