Players and critics loved Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, but unfortunately, it didn’t sell enough copies to meet the expectations of the company behind it.
The popular side-scrolling action game launched in January 2024, but later that year, Ubisoft announced it was ending development on the game, disappointing many fans.
The French journalist who originally reported on the difficulties with the game now says Ubisoft is planning to let the main team behind The Lost Crown work on a new project.
According to reporter Gautoz, the publisher is now open to receiving game ideas from the team.
We don’t have any information yet about the projects that will be showcased, and any resulting news may not be related to Prince of Persia.
Gautoz explained that the “core team” consists of the original creators who led the development of The Lost Crown. It’s a relatively small group, but they plan to expand by adding more people as the project progresses.
Hopefully, the team will have another opportunity, as many believe The Lost Crown didn’t receive the attention it deserved.
We’re questioning if this decision is connected to the recent company-wide changes at Ubisoft. They’ve been reorganizing studios to improve how games are made, and Prince of Persia is still considered a valuable franchise.
Now that you’ve played Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, what kind of game would you like to see the developers create next? Share your thoughts in the comments!
