How Could We Forget About SOL Shogunate, the PS5 Action RPG About Samurai on the Moon?

We’d forgotten all about SOL Shogunate, but its quirky and enjoyable idea immediately grabbed our attention. Samurai and feudal Japan… on the Moon? Count us in!

Developer Chaos Manufacturing recently shared an update about their fast-paced action RPG, including a new video detailing the game’s story and world.

In the distant future, people live in cities built inside the Moon. These underground cities use spinning technology to create artificial gravity similar to Earth’s, and their designs draw heavily from Japanese culture and history.

Shin Edo is a city built to resemble feudal Japan, complete with traditional buildings and ways of life. It’s quite different from Tenkyo, another city on the moon that’s designed to look like Japan from the 1980s.

The video explains the two main families that influence the story. The Tennoji family dominates space travel and controls the Moon’s train system, while the Karasuma family runs a huge mining business.

It all leads to some really unique and cool visuals.

If you’re interested in seeing more of the game itself, here’s the reveal trailer:

There’s no word on when it’s releasing, but hopefully it’s not too far out.
