Taylor Sheridan’s New Crime Drama Frisco King Finally Starts Filming

I’m really excited – Taylor Sheridan’s next project, Frisco King, is officially happening! I just heard they’ve actually started filming it, which is a spin-off from his other super popular show. Can’t wait to see what he comes up with this time!

Sylvester Stallone, known for Tulsa King, shared a photo on Instagram announcing the start of filming for Frisco King. The picture features Stallone with Samuel L. Jackson, who will star in the new spinoff series after making a guest appearance in Tulsa King. Stallone captioned the post, “From one king to another. Frisco King is now in production!” You can see the post below.

Tulsa King Spinoff Frisco King Is Finally Filming

Fans have been waiting for this for a while. Back in 2024, Taylor Sheridan first revealed plans for a spin-off of Tulsa King. The show was originally going to take place in New Orleans and was called NOLA King, but the location was later switched to Frisco, Texas, leading to the new title, Frisco King. Sheridan has written all eight episodes of the first season.

Samuel L. Jackson is set to lead a TV series for the first time with Frisco King. While he’s a familiar face in movies, his television work has mostly been limited to guest spots and recurring roles. He’s appeared on shows like Spenser: For Hire, Law & Order, and Ghostwriter, and he’s returned to the Marvel universe several times in shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., What If…?, Secret Invasion, and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. But Frisco King will be the first time he’s played the main character in a scripted TV series.

Since Sylvester Stallone is already on set getting fitted for costumes, he’s likely to appear in Frisco King. Several other actors who will be in the series have also been announced. They include Asa Germann (known for Gen V and Scream 7), Kai Caster (Yellowstone, Spider-Noir), Lilah Pate (Outer Banks, The Summer I Turned Pretty), and Savanna Gann (English Teacher, See You When I See You).

Paramount Television Studios President Matt Thunell expressed excitement about Taylor Sheridan writing the entire first season of Frisco King and developing the character originally made famous by Samuel L. Jackson. He believes Sheridan’s unique style will be a welcome addition for fans of Tulsa King and viewers everywhere.

Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals at Paramount+, shared that the platform continues to create compelling stories that draw top talent, and Frisco King is a perfect example. She noted that Samuel L. Jackson joining the project highlights the grand scope and creative vision of the storyteller, Taylor, and expressed excitement about expanding the story with such a strong team and cast on Paramount+.

Frisco King does not yet have a set premiere date.
