Following their initial overview of PS5 features, Housemarque has now explained how their game, Saros, takes advantage of the PS5 Pro. As expected, it supports the new Upgraded PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, delivering a noticeably sharper image. According to creative director Gregory Louden, the visual improvement is so significant that it’s difficult to distinguish from true 4K resolution while playing.
And that’s not the only improvement. According to Seppo Halonen on the PlayStation Blog, the PS5 Pro will render games at a higher base resolution.
With PlayStation 5 Pro, we’ve boosted the initial rendering resolution – that’s the resolution before any enhancements are applied. This results in a noticeably clearer and more detailed picture at 60 frames per second. We use dynamic resolution to keep the game running smoothly, even during intense action, but the PS5 Pro consistently delivers a sharper visual experience from one scene to the next.
So far, the game runs at a consistently smooth frame rate. According to Halonen, the developers have made lots of subtle improvements to things like reflections and visual quality, so the game isn’t just showing more pixels – it’s actually rendering more detailed content as well.
Important story scenes run at 30 frames per second, and the development team prioritized detailed characters, impressive lighting, and high-quality visual effects. The upcoming PS Pro console is expected to offer an even sharper and more visually rich experience.
Saros will be available on PlayStation 5 on April 30th. Players who buy the Digital Deluxe edition can start playing on April 28th. The game follows Arjun Devraj, who is trapped on the planet Carcosa, endlessly dying and being reborn because of a strange eclipse.
