How LOVB Athletes Keep Their Heads in the Game Ahead of Championship

Adrenaline can really spike on the court.

That’s why the top players in League One Volleyball (LOVB) are so good at staying focused, particularly when a championship is at stake. LOVB Austin and Salt Lake City will need that focus as they compete on April 16th and 18th to determine the winner of LOVB’s second season.

Austin player Logan Eggleston believes her team thrives when they maintain a positive and consistent atmosphere in the locker room.

She told TopMob News that the team has maintained a consistent approach all year. She wants to avoid putting too much pressure on this weekend, believing that focusing on the magnitude of the moment can increase anxiety. Right now, she feels the team is very relaxed and calm.

Honestly, it’s everything to me that they’re just focused on keeping up that amazing volleyball they’ve been playing, and those incredible vibes! It’s like, they get it – it’s not just about winning, it’s about how they play, and they’re so good at keeping that energy up. I just live for it!

I’ve been following Serena Gray and her team in Salt Lake City, and what really strikes me is how much they prioritize simply enjoying their time together. It’s clear they’re really focused on making the most of every moment they have as a team, and it’s inspiring to see.

She explained that it’s about savoring the present. They’re trying not to have any expectations, and simply want to make the most of their remaining time together as a group, after two years of being together.

However, the athletes aren’t expecting an easy path to the championship. Despite winning last year, Madisen Skinner and her team know they’ll face tough competition.

She acknowledged she hadn’t fully considered the possibility of their team winning championships two years in a row. While excited about the idea, she emphasized they still have a lot of volleyball to play. Their immediate focus is on their upcoming match against Salt Lake, and she stressed the importance of staying present and concentrating on each game rather than getting ahead of themselves.

These athletes are keenly aware they’re part of a historic moment, particularly as this is only the second season for LOVB.

Zoe Jarvis of Austin explained that she joined the league from the very beginning because she believed it would be successful and wanted to be able to share her involvement with her children someday.

Winning that first championship was amazing – it felt like something that would be remembered forever.

She said winning championships back-to-back is a legacy she wants to share with her kids, and that’s her main motivation.

I’m so excited to see what our team can do! My teammate, Leah Hardeman, feels the same way – she’s determined to show everyone that Austin is a force to be reckoned with, season after season.

She admitted their first win felt lucky to many, but she’s confident they can repeat the success. Simply being here again is incredible, but winning a second time would be the perfect finish.
