‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem’ Sequel Will Feature Shredder & Krang

The next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, a sequel to Mutant Mayhem, will include the classic villains Shredder and Krang. This announcement came during a presentation by Paramount Pictures at CinemaCon on April 16, 2026, via a video message from producers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver, as reported by Collider.

Shredder is the main villain of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, first appearing in the original comic book in 1984. He’s usually portrayed as Oroku Saki, a dangerous samurai who leads the Foot Clan and has a long-standing rivalry with Splinter, the Turtles’ sensei. The new movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, changes Splinter’s backstory – he’s now just a regular rat from New York, not a former ninja’s pet. This will likely change how Shredder and the Turtles interact in future installments. As of now, no actor has been chosen to voice Shredder.

Krang originated as a character in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon, drawing inspiration from the Utrom aliens featured in the original comic books. He’s a brain-like alien from another dimension called Dimension X who uses a robotic body and commands a huge, fortress-like weapon called the Technodrome. Krang is a well-known enemy of the Ninja Turtles and has appeared in various versions of the franchise, even making his first live-action appearance in the 2016 film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.

The post-credits scene of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem hinted at the introduction of Shredder, showing him being hired by Cynthia Utrom (played by Maya Rudolph). Fans believe Utrom might actually be Krang – a villain from previous Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series – due to her family name and similar robotic appearance. However, this connection hasn’t been officially confirmed.

A new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is planned for August 13, 2027, four years after Mutant Mayhem. However, the future of this Turtles series is unclear. The animated show Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was canceled after only two seasons in December 2025. While producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are discussing a third movie, the original voice actors from Mutant Mayhem are getting older, and Paramount Pictures is planning a live-action reboot for November 17, 2028. This suggests that this current version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles may be nearing its end.
