The video game WWE 2K25 has just been released for the Switch 2 console, signifying the comeback of the series on Nintendo systems. However, it appears that this particular version for the Switch 2 is not compatible with cross-platform Community Creations or image uploads as stated by 2K Games in their press release. Regrettably, 2K Games has yet to provide any explanation regarding this limitation. It’s worth mentioning that WWE 2K18 on the original Switch did support Community Creations, which suggests that the issue might not be due to Nintendo’s policies unless there have been some changes in their policy guidelines.
The absence of the feature is sparking considerable annoyance among WWE enthusiasts, and unfortunately, there’s been no explanation provided so far. Consequently, Switch 2 users will be unable to access user-generated content, which is a significant disadvantage. One WWE Games subreddit user managed to secure a refund for their digital purchase from Nintendo. This appears to be an available remedy for those who bought the game prior to learning about this restriction, but not everyone may feel equally passionate about it.

In a positive turn of events, it appears that WWE 2K25 on Switch 2 is receiving much acclaim from players so far. This suggests that 2K Games has done an exceptional job with the conversion, which bodes well for future titles. Given the history of some developers botching Switch ports, there were valid concerns about this game. However, numerous users on Twitter and Bluesky have commended WWE 2K25‘s smooth frame rate and impressive graphics, whether docked or in handheld mode. If Community Creations and the image uploader hadn’t been removed, this game would likely have been an easy recommendation for portable play among wrestling enthusiasts.
If the demand is strong enough, there’s a chance these features might get included in WWE 2K25 at some later stage as an update. However, this is merely speculation. Both Nintendo and 2K would likely want to steer clear of negative attention for this particular version of the game. The objective here is to convince undecided individuals that Switch 2 could host significant third-party games that couldn’t be played on the original Switch. The Switch 2 edition of Cyberpunk 2077 served as a great example, but more titles like it would further strengthen this argument.
Currently, it appears that WWE 2K25 is shaping up to be a decent adaptation, albeit with a significant drawback that could be a deal-breaker for some users. It’s definitely an improvement over the scarcity of WWE games on the Switch during its eight-year market tenure, but those expecting a perfectly faithful conversion might find themselves slightly disillusioned.
