Netflix Is Changing Forever In Just 1 Week

Next week, Netflix is launching a significant new plan that could change how viewers enjoy its shows after they finish airing. With so many new and diverse shows being added every month and year, the list of Netflix’s most popular titles is constantly evolving.

A new thriller series quickly became a hit on Netflix, topping streaming charts in early 2026. Called His & Hers, the 6-episode crime drama features Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson as a divorced couple investigating a string of murders in their small town.

The TV show His & Hers has quickly become a hit on Netflix, ranking as their tenth most-watched show ever. It joins other popular series like Bridgerton, Wednesday, Adolescence, and the long-running Stranger Things. While Stranger Things initially launched in 2016 and became Netflix’s most popular show, it concluded on December 31, 2025, with the release of its final season.

Even though the main Stranger Things series has ended, the story isn’t over! Netflix will release the first Stranger Things spin-off, Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, next Thursday, April 23rd. This new show could be a turning point for the streaming service, and there’s a strong reason to believe it will fundamentally change things for Netflix.

Netflix’s Flagship Show Is Changing Mediums

After being Netflix’s biggest hit for almost ten years, the return of Stranger Things as an animated series is a major move for the streaming service. While it’s a spinoff, Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 will feature the same popular characters fans love from the original show, including Steve, Hopper, Eleven, Mike, and others.

Netflix is continuing the story of its hit show Stranger Things with a new animated series called Tales from ’85. Set between seasons 2 and 3, the prequel explains how Eleven can return even though it appeared she died at the end of the original series. The new show will feature a completely new voice cast, reimagining all the familiar characters.

Can Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Be As Popular As The Original Show?

As a big fan, I’m really excited about Stranger Things: Tales from ’85. If it does well – and I think it will – it could completely change how Netflix operates. I’m hoping they’ll start making animated spin-offs for other popular shows, like exploring different time periods in Wednesday or The Witcher (they’ve already done animated movies for that one!). Even shows like Black Mirror could get this treatment once the main story wraps up. It feels like this could keep Netflix creating content practically forever, and I’m here for it!

While I don’t expect Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 to be as big a hit as the original series – audiences often lose some interest when a show moves from live-action to animation – it doesn’t need to be. If the animated series performs even moderately well – say, half as successfully as Stranger Things – it could pave the way for Netflix to create animated spin-offs of other popular shows.
