It’s tough not to feel envious of Robert Pattinson these days, as he currently heads the Bat-Universe under Matt Reeves, embodying a youthful Batman on his path to heroism. Before reprising the role of the Dark Knight, Pattinson has several significant roles lined up, such as Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey. Additionally, there are whispers that Denis Villeneuve is considering casting him as a villain in the forthcoming Dune: Part Three, potentially playing Scytale, a Face Dancer, opposite Timothee Chalamet’s Paul Atreides. Interestingly, Pattinson wasn’t always Hollywood’s first pick for prime acting opportunities.
Before the world was captivated by the “Twilight” movie phenomenon, I too, like many other actors, found myself searching for my next opportunity. However, I was fortunate enough to secure a role in “Remember Me,” which has now found a new home on Prime Video. It seems Director Allen Coulter took notice of me during this time and invited me to work on a project he was involved with, taken from the prestigious Black List. This drama revolved around a young man named Tyler, who was grappling with his brother’s suicide and growing distant from his father, trying to find a way to heal and move forward in life.
Initially, “Remember Me” seemed to be a typical coming-of-age tale, with the character Tyler resolving his issues and growing as an individual through love. However, the plot took an unexpected twist at the end of the film when Tyler visits the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. The horrific event brought the people around him closer, but unfortunately, it was a moment that Tyler didn’t get to experience. This unconventional ending elicited mixed reactions from both fans and critics, and it remains one of the most peculiar choices in cinematic history.
If you missed “Remember Me” when it debuted in 2010, here’s your opportunity to catch it! The movie is now available for streaming on Prime Video. Despite mixed reviews, there’s a unique appeal to this film that makes it intriguing. Given the strong support from its creators, it’s definitely worth giving it a watch.
Remember Me‘s Cast and Crew Defended It From the Jump

Following the release of “Remember Me“, the primary topic of conversation became the unexpected twist ending. While some critics found it manipulative, those who saw it in theaters generally agreed with this assessment. Nevertheless, Coulter defended his work, expressing during an interview with MTV News (via E! News) that their intention was to give a human touch to the 9/11 tragedy.
Coulter mentioned that this narrative is essentially about an unexpected incident, often referred to as ‘the bolt out of the blue,’ which significantly changes the course of your life. To begin with, it presents a deeply personal account, and as the plot progresses, it delves into exploring how such occurrences can move from being personal to being universal. They aimed to make these types of events more relatable and understandable by humanizing them.
Pattinson decided to do the same, sharing that the movie’s narrative involving the 9/11 attacks was what attracted him to the project.
Upon first reading the screenplay, it resonated profoundly with me. The moment I laid eyes on it, I felt an instant bond. Any alterations to its structure would have diminished its essence. I believe there’s a certain potency within the script that I wanted to preserve throughout the film.
Regardless of whether it was for the best or worst, the plot twist remained, and undeniably, it increased the movie’s relevance compared to what it might have been without it. It’s challenging to imagine a streaming platform deliberately adding “Remember Me” to its collection if it didn’t come with the attached controversy.
