The Apothecary Diaries Returns With an Exciting New Release Ahead of Season 3

Fans of The Apothecary Diaries have a lot to look forward to in 2026! Season 3 is confirmed and will be released in two parts, with the second part arriving in Spring 2027. The first part will cover the fifth book in the series, introducing new obstacles for Jinshi and Maomao. Plus, a brand-new movie, written by the author of the novels, Natsu Hyuuga, is coming to Japanese theaters this December, with international dates to be announced. To tide fans over, the series’ first official cookbook will be released in Japan on May 13th, 2026, and may become available worldwide a few months later.

The book’s cover showcases a charming illustration of Jinshi and Maomao by light novel artist Touko Shino. Inside, readers can find and recreate dishes mentioned in the story, with 23 recipes – including the chocolate love potion Maomao makes – all verified by the author, Hyuuga. The book also features six original short stories by Hyuuga, each with a brand new recipe.

The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 Will Bring Jinshi and Maomao Even Closer

Season two significantly developed the connection between Maomao and Jinshi, particularly after Maomao discovered his true identity. Jinshi reveals he is actually Ka Zuigetsu, the Moon Prince, after learning Maomao was kidnapped by the Shi Clan during their planned rebellion. He had been living disguised as an eunuch named Jinshi to avoid palace intrigue, but everything changes in the second season following his revelation.
