Marvel Star Calls Midnight Sons Crossover A “No-Brainer” And Wants to “Make It Happen”

Since the release of Avengers: Endgame in 2019, the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t quite lived up to expectations for many fans. There’s been a lot of frustration over projects that were planned but never made, and that feeling is growing as Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars get closer. These upcoming films will essentially restart the MCU, making all the previously missed opportunities feel like lost chances forever.

As a huge MCU fan, I was really excited to hear one of the actors is still pushing for a project we’ve all been hoping to see for years! They’re basically saying if we want it to happen, we need to let Marvel know – so maybe it’s time to make some noise!

Marvel’s Moon Knight Star Still Wants That Midnight Sons Crossover

As a huge Marvel fan, I’ve been really hoping to see Moon Knight team up with some of the more supernatural heroes. Oscar Isaac, who played Moon Knight in the Disney+ series, has been pushing for it too! It feels like since his show ended, he’s been waiting for a call, and it’s frustrating because fans aren’t necessarily looking for him in the next Avengers movie. We’ve been dreaming of a ‘Midnight Sons’ team-up for years – Moon Knight alongside characters like Blade, Ghost Rider, and Werewolf by Night. It’s wild to me that all these characters have appeared in Marvel projects, but this particular team hasn’t happened yet. Thankfully, Oscar Isaac is still actively campaigning to make it a reality, and I’m right there with him!

During an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, Isaac talked about the rumors that Ryan Gosling might be cast as the new Ghost Rider in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and shared his excitement about the potential for a Midnight Sons crossover event.

Isaac enthusiastically supported the idea of Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider and a potential ‘Midnight Sons’ project, saying it was a clear win for everyone involved.

He playfully imagined a scene with Moon Knight riding a bike alongside Ghost Rider (played by Ryan Gosling) and Blade (played by Mahershala Ali), envisioning himself clinging to the back. He joked that the image – fire, a cape, and all – would make a fantastic movie poster.

Isaac ended with a direct call to fans to “Make it happen, internet. Make that poster happen.”

Marvel’s Midnight Sons Is An Easy Win

Fans have long requested a ‘Midnight Sons’ adaptation, and for good reason – it’s a popular comic book series. More importantly, combining superheroes with horror has proven successful in today’s film industry. It’s frustrating to see both Marvel (with ‘Midnight Sons’) and DC (‘Justice League Dark’) overlook this potential, particularly now. Superhero movies are facing challenges, while horror is thriving, with both critically acclaimed independent films like Longlegs and Barbarian, and major box office hits such as Weapons, Sinners.

A significant chance to expand the Marvel universe appears to have been missed, and it’s proving costly. Mahershala Ali’s involvement as Blade is now uncertain due to delays with the reboot. Gael García Bernal and Laura Donnelly, who starred in the one-time Marvel special Werewolf By Night, have moved on to other projects. Meanwhile, Oscar Isaac’s career has flourished, meaning he’s no longer reliant on a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It’s a tough situation right now, but things could change quickly. If Ryan Gosling joins the Marvel universe as Ghost Rider after his Star Wars appearance, it would generate a lot of excitement and potentially revive plans for a ‘Midnight Sons’ project.

You can now watch Moon Knight on Disney+. Join the conversation and share your hopes for a Midnight Sons team-up on the ComicBook Forum!
