Fans of Spider-Man have a lot to look forward to with new projects like Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Spider-Noir coming soon. According to the showrunner of Spider-Noir, there are even bigger plans in development, potentially exploring many different versions of Spider-Man and expanding the universe of alternate reality stories.
Oren Uziel, who created the new film Spider-Noir starring Nicolas Cage, recently told SFX Magazine that several other Spider-Man variations are currently in development. He’s concentrating on Spider-Noir but has spoken with the teams working on these other projects and believes they’re promising. Like Spider-Noir, these films aim to blend a specific genre with a unique Spider-Man character, creating fresh and exciting possibilities.
There is a Ton of Untapped Potential For New Spider-Man Projects
Uziel didn’t specify which projects he meant, but he was probably discussing the potential Spider-Gwen movie Sony is reportedly developing, which would focus on Gwen Stacy from the Spider-Verse. Another character from the Spider-Verse expected to get their own film is Spider-Punk, who first appeared in Across the Spider-Verse.
The upcoming series Spider-Noir stars Nicolas Cage as a private investigator grappling with his history as the Spider. Unlike the brief appearance in Spider-Verse, this show isn’t a continuation of that story. According to creator Uziel, this version of the character is distinct from both the comic book and animated movie iterations, deliberately moving away from the typical high school years of Peter Parker. Essentially, it’s a fresh and much-anticipated reimagining of Spider-Man that fans will be excited to see, premiering on Prime Video on May 27th.
