Marvel Studios often steals the show at San Diego Comic-Con, even though they don’t attend every year. They’ve become famous for creating huge buzz, with fans sometimes camping out for days just to get a seat at their presentations. In the past, they’ve wowed audiences with things like a full screening of Deadpool & Wolverine, the announcement of Mahershala Ali as Blade, and the reveal of Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom. But now, it looks like they’re planning their most impressive panel yet.
After skipping the big Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con last year – only showcasing Peacemaker Season 2 – Marvel Studios is planning a major return this year. TheWrap reports that Marvel will have a significant presence at the convention, both on the show floor and with a panel in Hall H on Saturday, July 25th. They’ll also be at D23 in August. This has fans wondering if the full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday will finally be revealed in July.
Marvel Studios Returning to SDCC After One Year Absence

Marvel Studios is likely to use their Comic-Con panel this year to focus on promoting Avengers: Doomsday. The big question is whether we’ll see the first full trailer there, or if it will be released earlier. Many fans believe the movie has an even larger cast than Marvel has let on, and they expect a full cast reveal on stage at the panel.
Considering the movie release schedule, the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday will likely arrive near the end of May, around the same time as the premiere of The Mandalorian and Grogu – Disney’s biggest summer blockbuster. After a sneak peek at CinemaCon last week, Marvel fans are eagerly awaiting the official trailer and are interpreting every hint as a sign it’s coming “Soon.” Marvel’s decision to hold off on releasing it demonstrates their continued control over what everyone is talking about, and waiting until San Diego Comic-Con – especially without an online release – would be pushing that power to the limit.
While Marvel Studios is expected to showcase Avengers: Doomsday at San Diego Comic-Con this year, they’ll likely also promote Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which comes out just a week later. Interestingly, Tom Holland has only been on stage at Marvel’s SDCC panel once – in 2016 for Spider-Man: Homecoming – and hasn’t appeared since. A return after ten years would be a major event for Marvel fans.
Marvel Studios’ return to San Diego Comic-Con is a big deal – they first announced their movie plans there back in 2006. While the event will likely focus on promoting Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel might also share updates on their TV shows like Vision Quest, new seasons of X-Men ’97, Eyes of Wakanda, and Marvel Zombies. They’ve used their panels in the past to cover a wide range of projects, so these shows could still get some attention, even with the scale of Doomsday.
