BBC confirmed to air “fully immersive” and “totally different” sci-fi war drama series based on graphic novel

The BBC will be showing the French science fiction show, The Sentinels, which originally appeared on Canal+ last year.

This eight-episode series will be available on BBC Four and BBC iPlayer. It’s adapted from the graphic novels Les Sentinelles by Xavier Dorison and Enrique Breccia.

When World War I begins, Gabriel Ferraud, a severely injured soldier, is chosen for a secret French military project. The goal? To develop super-soldiers. Gabriel receives an experimental serum that gives him incredible strength, speed, and the ability to recover quickly from injuries.

Gabriel becomes part of the Sentinels, a highly trained group of enhanced soldiers created to fight in the war. As the fighting gets worse, he discovers a shocking secret that could change everything.

The show features a talented cast including Louis Peres, Thibaut Evrard, Kacey Mottet-Klein, Carl Malapa, Olivia Ross, and Ouassini Embarek, among others.

Thierry Poiraud and Édouard Salier directed the project, while Guillaume Lemans, Xabi Molia, and Raphaëlle Richet wrote it.

Nick Lee, who leads program acquisition for the BBC, described “The Sentinels” as a thrilling and action-packed war drama. He noted that the show, originally a graphic novel, has been skillfully turned into a high-quality television series by CANAL+ and believes BBC viewers will enjoy its unique combination of steampunk and futuristic, robotic elements.

As a movie lover, I have to say this story is incredibly layered and surprisingly moving – it really pulls you in. Honestly, it’s unlike anything I’ve seen before, and it’s a wild, captivating ride. Be warned though, it doesn’t pull any punches!
