On Monday, he announced that Strategy (because apparently “MicroStrategy” was too mainstream) went on another shopping spree, snagging 34,164 BTC like it was a Black Friday sale at Target. Shocking? Not really. The guy’s been hoarding Bitcoin since 2020 like it’s the last roll of toilet paper in a pandemic.
Strategy’s Bitcoin Hoard Hits 800,000+ BTC: BlackRock, Who?
With this latest buy, Strategy’s Bitcoin stash officially crossed the 800,000 BTC mark. That’s 815,061 BTC, to be exact, because who’s counting? Oh, right, everyone. This little shopping trip cost a cool $2.54 billion, with an average price of $74,395 per Bitcoin. Fun fact: Strategy has now spent $61.56 billion on Bitcoin. That’s more than most of us spend on avocado toast in a lifetime.
And guess what? Strategy just lapped BlackRock in the Bitcoin holdings race. BlackRock, the company that manages $12 trillion in assets, is now playing second fiddle to Saylor’s Bitcoin obsession. BlackRock’s IBIT holdings are sitting pretty at 798,062 BTC, but Strategy’s like, “Hold my latte, I’m about to pass you.”
Will Saylor Ever Stop Buying Bitcoin? Spoiler: Probably Not.
In a recent chat with CNBC, Saylor doubled down on his Bitcoin love affair, saying Strategy isn’t planning to sell anytime soon. Because, you know, why sell when you can just keep buying? It’s like he’s playing the world’s most expensive game of “How Low Can You Go?” with his average buy price, which is now down to $75,527. Go on, Michael, make Warren Buffett cry.
So, will Saylor ever stop? Doubtful. Will he buy the moon next? Wouldn’t put it past him. In the meantime, let’s all sit back and watch as Strategy becomes the Bitcoin equivalent of that one aunt who hoards cats. Except instead of cats, it’s cryptocurrency. And instead of a weird smell, it’s just a lot of zeros on a balance sheet.
